The Disneyland Hotel has always been THE place to stay. Our recent visit illustrated why we've kept returning. The Cast Members are truly the ones who make magic happen. We felt genuinely cared for. Shout out to the front desk crew- Brittany, Elena, Ernesto and Penny for all their kindness and hard work to solve an issue that we had. They were patient, thoughtful and shared useful insights for our visit. What's more is that not only did they make us feel like royalty, but when we saw some of them later in the visit, they stopped to ask us how things were going. Now, that is real service! With all that they had going on, they took the time to stop for a moment to check in with us. It meant a LOT.
We had the opportunity to stay in a club level room and have access to the High Key Club. We've stayed concierge level before and it has always been a great experience and this was once again, incredible. The cast members in the lounge were attentive, kind and genuine without hovering or making you feel like you were being "watched." If we needed something, we asked and they provided service with a smile! Thank you to Robert, Cynthia, Guille and Kay for making it extra special. It was a pleasure to see each of you when we would trudge in after a busy park day or in the mornings. The food offerings in the lounge were also top-notch! Breakfast items included bagels, bread, pastries, hot chocolate, fresh fruit (grapes, pineapple, strawberries, apples, bananas), oatmeal and hot biscuits & gravy as well as sliced salmon, ham and turkey. During the afternoon snack time there were pretzels, chips, uncrustables, trail mix fixings, tea sandwiches and of course, fruit but the best part of all was the freezer with ice cream novelties...including the great Mickey Mouse ice cream bars! Evening provided warm appetizers that could and did serve as a meal. Items like arepas, shrimp, egg rolls and other items like cold meats, veggie spreads, cheese, crackers, fruit and breads provided. The drink cooler was always stocked with Coca Cola, Coke Zero, Sprite, Ginger Ale, juice, milk and bottled water for the grab-and-go! The desserts at night varied with cookies (sugar, chocolate chip, and oatmeal), mini cheesecakes, cake pops, various cobblers and rice krispie treats (Mickey shaped, of course!).
The rooms are clean and cozy. Our room was perfectly clean and the housekeeping provided extra towels on request. Beds were extremely comfortable. Do keep in mind that this hotel is 70 years old, and despite a couple of remodels, the buildings do show their age a little bit and if this bothers you, stay somewhere else if modern updates are more to your taste. Rooms have plenty of lighting, lamps and alarm clocks do have USB ports. Bathrooms provide several lighting options instead of just one big florescent light. Bathrooms here are shower/tub combinations so if you want a standalone shower, those aren't here. Ice machines on every floor and efficient elevators provide exactly what we need! Truly, no complaints about the room. Water pressure is on the lower side but that is not a dealbreaker for us. Water was warm/hot as needed for showering.
The ambience of the entire hotel complex is calming. Beautiful DISNEY themed music plays throughout the grounds and each hotel tower (Fantasy, Adventure and Frontier) provide their own themed music loops as you enter. The Discovery Tower is the newer DVC building. We did not stay here, but did see a room and despite it's "newness" is not to our liking. We much prefer the original Disneyland Hotel rooms.
Again, thank you to all of the staff that we interacted with for making our stay the very, very best.
