GLOBALSTAY Modern Downtown Apartment

The view is great, so is the central location. Property is showing a lot of wear and tear, caulking and paint should get an update ASAP.

The apartment looks great, and it has a lot of amenities. Fridge, dishes and dishwasher, laundry machine, coffee machine, microwave, smart TV, and more... It is fully equipped and it was very helpful. The tower is very modern, very clean. Even has a swimming pool, a gym, and a game room, although we did not use them. The location isn't bad, you're in walking distance of a yellow subway line, and not far from union station. However we suffered from a TTC subway line closure on both stations. The apartment is also right next to the CN tower and the stadium, so it's easy to find. The balcony has a great view, facing west. There is a parking lot, but it's not free. You can pay Globalstay to use it. The parking lot is very practical though, it's underground and keeps the car out of the sun. The elevators can go directly to the parking lot.

Overall we liked the apartment, but we stayed on edge about a couple things. It's expensive. Maybe a decent deal on the Toronto market, but it's still one of the most expensive vacation rental i've ever paid for unfortunately. The building is a tower with hundreds of apartments. It's very new and modern. But I realized that it seemed that a lot for apartments are short term rentals, to the point where you'll see people checking in everyday at the front desk. Yet it's not a hotel. And nobody really lives permanently in this apartment on the daily. Personally I found this awkward, to the point where I now ask myself if I want to support the companies that buy condos only to rent them to tourists. Globalstay themselves seem to manage several apartments in this tower. The worst part was the blinds in the unit. They let a lot of light in, a couple vertical slats were missing or were damaged, and I would wake up around 5 a.m. daily. Some blinds even fell during our stay. Globalstay didn’t fix it despite repeated complaints, only saying they'd pass the issue to local teams and then nothing happened. Photos of other units suggest others might have curtains instead. There is a balcony, but the apartment is facing west with a great view, but on a clear sunny day the balcony gets scorching hot until at least around 9pm. It can also be rather loud, capturing the noise of the streets. Globalstay staff were friendly and polite but felt like generic customer support. They cannot help you directly very much, and they don't know the actual specifics of the apartment you're staying in. But they did try to answer all my questions.

Not clean - apartment was very dirty - streaks everywhere. Didn’t trust any of the glasses and had to buy bottled water. Bathroom door didn’t shut because it was broken. Front door was also broken. Windows were filthy so couldn’t see out of them.

Check in seemed a little weird with having to send a a picture of me holing my id and getting the key from a lock box with instructions from a Google document but everything was fine
