SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York JFK Airport/Jamaica

Overall experience was good

for some reason, there was no hair dryer. This is the first time I have run into this anywhere.

We are New Yorkers but had an early flight out of JFK. First, the make at the desk didn’t even say hello and was annoyed to check us in. The room happen to be nice, clean and spacious but lacked soap. Second, out of town travelers must be aware that the area is dangerous. The small store was lacking much stock but we winged it for one night. There did not appear to be security in the lobby. Third, a hotel airport that advertises shuttles to the airport should make sure shuttles are on time. We were told our shuttle would be at least a half our late and that’s a problem. We had to take a $30 Uber to go 4 miles and we’re told that we had no recourse. FYI - some other hotels in the area house immigrants from Mexico. Choose wisely.

this hotel is in the worst. area. dangerous my wife got mugged in front of the hotel... and the room was covered in mold ..please don't stay there. the hotel management and Marriott corporate did nothing.... I ended up in the hospital. very sick from the mols that was painted over. This is the closest Marriott to JFK. airport...stay away

When we arrived exhausted from an overseas flight.  We had a confirmed reservation via the Marriott app, they told us they were over booked and had see if they could find a room for us. Thankfully they did. The room and bathroom was relatively clean. There was limited lighting in the room, when you turn off the light it also turns off the refrigerator (which ruined our food).  There was no hand soap in the bathroom, the only soap available was in the large dispenser in the shower.  None available at housekeeping or front desk.  The water dispenser in the gym was not working.  Despite listing an airport shuttle it does not operate full-time.  You must request it in advance, they will try to accommodate you if available based on other guests needs. The area the hotel is in is not great, but we felt safe in the hotel.  We did walk to the metro during the day, but I would not do it at night.  It is not close to downtown.  It is a 40-50min/ $60-90 dollar Uber ride. All this said, if you are stuck at the airport and need a place to crash for the night.  It is an acceptable property.  I wouldn't seek this place out for a vacation to New York City.

Ideal only a bus ride from my venue

They give out my room to others even I have a reservation on the room. They give it out for a higher price.

After booking online the hotel indicated they are at capacity and will cancel the reservation

The room smelled like urine. It was gross. Poor area, not safe.
