La Ceiba Tree Lodge

Unbeatable view. Beautiful grounds. Sergio, the owner, is an amazing host with a wealth of knowledge about the immediate area and beyond. Great breakfast and coffee and adorable animals to greet you and make you feel at home.

Nothing, it was a wonderful stay.

This place is a true gem. The 600 year old Ceiba Tree towers over the property, making the gardens and Lake Arenal views truly magical. Our rooms were comfortable and clean. Freshly prepared breakfast with hot coffee was delicious every day. We appreciated local recommendations from the owner and the peace and quiet of the property. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants to explore in Nuevo Arenal as well.

The only thing I didn't like was 45 min drive to activities in La Fortuna, but that was just poor planning on my part. I would also say that if you need cool temps to sleep, you might pack light PJ's because there is no A/C, but there are fans provided for the rooms and it cooled down quite a bit at night.

The view of Lake Arenal is spectacular. Visiting the old Ceiba Tree is a special treat (she's so grand) The place is very quiet and relaxing. I thoroughly enjoyed the hammock on our patio watching the sunset over the lake. Breakfast was delicious and the gardens are lovely. Our host was very friendly and we became fast friends with a shared interest in gardening.

The driveway is a little rough and may be better to use a 4x4 to get to the rooms. If you slip off the cement tracks you'd be stuck.

Friendly staff, so informative about the area. Very clean rooms, yummy breakfast, with excellent eggs and coffee. Superior bird watching, even my husband never missed no TV.

It is such a personable experience with breakfast and coffee made at the table. And one of the best views of the lake we had during our time in Arenal.

There was not much to do for us. There are no trails at the property, no pool, no hot tub, just hammocks and the view. Not the best value for the money.
