Econo Lodge Downtown

I'm not sure what the room was like, they refused to check me in- I reserved and paid online for the room. Upon arrival, the lobby was locked, it was late- 10-10:30 pm. Night clerk informed me they require a $100 CASH deposit, a fine print item I missed on the website. I questioned it, partly due to the shady area I was in, and this upset the clerk. She left me standing at the night service window with my cash in hand for 45 minutes, while I waited for a receipt. Refused to allow me to enter the lobby to be seated- I am senior citizen and was tired, had traveled by air and a shuttle to arrive there. The clerk had left the lobby area and I could no longer see her- so I called on the phone to see if I could come in and be seated while I waited. He response was - NO! then hung up the phone. After waiting the 45 minutes and my several attempts to get her to let me know what the delay was- she called the police- on me. The responding officer was very nice. He just said the hotel was refusing me service and did not have to have a reason. I was asked to leave the property, which I did. I drug my luggage 1/2 mile through dark streets in a bad neighborhood to another hotel. The night clerk was sweet and told me that several time a week, they have people check in with my same experience from the Econolodge, The next morning, she said another gentleman came in after I checked in that same night and had the same experience. Overall, a very bad experience.

The first problem came when I tried to get to the property: there is a lot of road construction in the neighborhood so I couldn't follow my GPS. I eventually made it to the entrance. I had previously looked on google street view and had seen that there was a covered entrance, but right next to that was an uncovered entrance. I have a tall vehicle and expected to use the uncovered entrance. Unfortunately, it is gone. Making matters even worse, there is no sign on the entrance giving the maximum height, although I later discovered there is such a sign on the inside. I hesitantly went under the covered entryway and found that there is a large building going up in what used to be the bulk of the parking area. Their listing on Expedia still says they offer RV and truck parking but they no longer do. I struggled to get into a parking space and went to the office. Although they have a large number of photos of their lobby on Expedia, you aren't allowed in. You have to go to a small window to check in. Although Expedia says they have a 24-hour front desk, there's a sign that says you can only check in 3pm to 3am. They don't have a speaker system and you can barely hear the person on the other side of the glass. They demand a $100 cash deposit, which I fortunately had but who carries much cash these days? Bad service at reception employee had bad attitude

My reservation closed at 4am and I got there at 5am due to traffic since I was coming from California I understand they have a policy but they wouldn’t even let me pay for the rest of the night they just cancel all my nights period I had to stay out in my car because they had already charged my credit card plus they said I would get charged a penalty I asked to get my second night and pay extra and was still not allowed the girl in the front office totally rude threw my money and my ID didn’t even tell me she left them there for me to grab people in the line were complaining about the same thing totally bad customer service NO I would not be coming back her they room had some spiders in a corner inside the bathroom there was death cockroach definitely I won’t be coming back

Worst place!! Please read there guidelines before anything. Unfortunately I didn't and booked a 2 day paid and since I didn't show by the time or called they cancel it as no show and kept my money for the 2 night so be aware. Management is the worst and have bad additude. Do not book here!

It was a good place except to the staff that never clean our room since we check in

Door lock is unsecured, air condition not working properly, shower broke fix it by useing duct tap,stap,impolite

Under construction next door Not much parking. I unfortunately didnt have any towles when i walked in. I also had to leave a 100$ cash deposit that i didnt see you have poated on this 3rd party site.

The bathroom, blankets and pillows was so dirty!! The carpets are very old and ripped and smell so bad!! The staff are very rude, not friendly, the kitchen area is disgusting! I ask for iron and never bring it to the room! I never going back!!

Stayed 08/23 Bad neighborhood, stopped at 7-11 at 3:30am, because the property requires $100 cash deposit & their atm is broken, first 7-11 locked w/ a dozen of homeless & drug addicts outside, plus their doing construction on the property so if you're staying during the week beware, went from second floor room to 1st floor because the top bedsheet covers had stains, dirty bathrooms & towels & the headrest lights didnt work, in the 1st floor room there were holes burnt through the topcover sheet, found a bug(like a beetle type) in the sheets, dirty towels again & felt as tho they've been used for way too long, im still in SLC further north & staying at a much better place, for what it's worth it was fairly cheap & the staff was helpful, just wish they spent money renovating the place instead of building newer building
