"Our second time staying at Saxon Inn, it offers good value clean rooms which all the family can stay together in if that"

Location, it offers family rooms and good value

On first arrival the room was cold, we were given an electric heater and member of staff came up to the room and switched ion the radiators. Snow was forecast so It would have been nice if the room was heated before our arrival.

Room was a good size, very clean and warm. You will need a good appetite, the meals & breakfast are of epic proportions. Staff are all pleasant & helpful. The bar is a locals favourite & has a pleasant atmosphere, little need to look elsewhere for evening food etc when it's all under one roof! All good value.

TV signal none existent, but not a real issue if you have a Netflix account. It did not spoil our stay.

The room was a good size with a settee to sit on. The shower was good even if it was over the bath. Had fish and chips for dinner which was good. Breakfast was good but had to be ordered the night before..

The location is in a small village about a 10 minute drive from Bishop Auckland. Other than this hotel there are no other eateries close by. The room was cold when we arrived and took a long time to get warm. When guests are expected the thermostat should be turned up prior to arrival. The bathroom was OK but the sink area was very small. The extractor fan did not work. The TV did not work which was blamed on a storm affecting the aerial. Staff at breakfast said that this had been known for a couple of days.
