The Saxon Inn

The room was fairly comfortable and clean. Bathroom was clean. Towels provided. Easy to check-out early (leave keys in a box).

We had over a 5.5hour drive to the accommodation. We called en route to update with ETA - as requested - in case our arrival was outside check-in hours (however we arrived just before). Was told a party would be on. It was very loud, with karaoke, which ran on until nearly midnight. We couldn't get to sleep for ages. Not great after a long journey! Also, there was NO hot running water at all! Evening or morning. We had an early check-out so glad we didn't book and pay for breakfast because there was no one around in the morning. For these reasons, I have had to give a average rating.

Very clean rooms; very friendly and helpful staff; excellent location for my needs; repeat visitor; excellent quality breakfast at a fair price.

First allocated bedroom was cold. No problem moving rooms but would have been an issue if no space. Staff seemed aware of problem. It’s a pub in a quiet village and I don’t know what the financials look like but the heating system would probably benefit from an overhaul.

Location, friendly atmosphere

Bit noisy being above the bar but all quiet by closing time.

Pleasant room, liked having sofa and coffee table area. Staff very busy when we arrived in the evening which affected ease of check in and welcome.
