"Rough around the edges but otherwise fine"

6.0

Stayed for 2 nights and checked in late after returning from Tenerife. Check-in is open 24 hours which was great. The hotel itself and the rooms are very dated but we have a really large room with a separate lounge which was fantastic. We included breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold options.

"No sleep in tropical heat"

2.0

We booked to stay last night for a rare night away without the kids. Our room was ridiculously hot due to the underfloor heating and was too hot to be able to relax. Breakfast was luke warm, over or under cooked and not even decent real coffee on offer. We had problems with our key card and witnessed another couple being given cards and able to access a room that was already occupied. Tatty and unclean central gravel area could easily become a pleasant view with a litter pick and a few plants! Inebriated guests caused us to have a totally sleepless night. Reception were quick to offer a 50% refund due to the behaviour of afore mentioned guests and acknowledged the heating issues. Very convenient location for town and sea front and a real shame that Britannia don't do more to make this uniquely shaped hotel a real quirky treasure for Lansdowne area. If you are young and want a post club/pub crash space this hotel is ideal but if you are booking for a peaceful and restful stop over then I'd seriously consider booking elsewhere.

"Not for me"

2.0

The receptionist allocated my room to another visitors who tried to open the door while myself and my child where in the room. Very scary episode. When l complained the receptionist said she wrote another room but was a error and that was what it was... No apology l has to demand for it. Also, breakfast was scheduled for 8am but wasn't open until after 8 the cleaner was still in there at 8am, l almost left as my child has a football match. Not very happy with the service really. Having to pay £10 for paying overnight is a No No,

"Tired out dated and dirty"

4.0

The Hotel was tired, dated and not particularly clean. On arrival we found our room smelt of smoke was not particularly clean money and some rubbish found on the floor. The furniture was old and badly stained there was a tile missing on the wall next to the shower and the floor tiles were old and tired. The bed mattresses were uncomfortable and the beds in need of replacement. We did complain but they said they were busy and showed little interest. We hopped things would improve in the morning only to find breakfast was also poor, with the coffee being make your own using a big water boiler and the breakfast being dry and certain items run out causing a 5 to 10 minute wait.

"Do not stay at weekends if you want to avoid a fight and the police, as quoted by the Hotel Reception"

2.0

We booked 6 rooms in the Roundhouse Hotel in Bournemouth on Saturday 16th October 2021 for my daughter's 22nd birthday celebrations. We chose this hotel as it was central. We had all looked forward to it for so long as it was our first big night away with family and friends since the first lockdown. We had drinks in the hotel bar and spent quite a lot of money in the hotel bar and then we went into Bournemouth for the remainder of the evening.  We all returned from a really nice night out celebrating my daughter's 22nd birthday she had an amazing evening. We went to bed and my son and his girlfriend had no sleep all night as they had to listen to people physically fighting in the room next to them.  They reported it to Reception but it did not stop. The walls are very thin and they found the shouting and punching very upsetting to listen to. There was an adjoining door to both rooms and they had to listen to constant banging on the adjoining door and it being kicked in. My son's girlfriend was very distressed and felt physically sick listening to them physically fighting and shouting she was terrified listening to someone screaming to the other one to get off them and stay away from them but it continued. As a result my son called me about 2am to tell me what was going on and that his girlfriend was terrified. I told them to report it to Reception. My son called me again at 3.30am to tell me it was still going on and the people fighting hadn't been removed from their room and that his girlfriend wanted to come to our room. She came and sat in our room, her, my husband and I were exhausted and tired and had a long drive home the next morning. So eventually she returned to her room as we all needed to try and sleep although we now only had a couple of hours to try. They were terrified to go back to their room. I was kept awake most of the night and couldn"t sleep worrying about them. Security were unable to remove these people fighting from the hotel and said it would have to wait until the morning to be dealt with. We"d all had such a nice evening celebrating my daughte"s birthday and this completely spoilt the night. We don't live local we'd all looked forward to this weekend away and staying in a hotel which we thought would be relaxing and the perfect ending to a nice celebration. However the whole experience ruined the whole celebration and we were left tired and exhausted and had to drive home in the morning. When I made a complaint to Reception the following morning I was actually told by Reception that if we stay in this hotel then we have to expect this and fighting as there are always fights and the need to call the Police on Friday and Saturday nights. She actually said to me if you don't like it then don't stay at The Roundhouse Hotel. Perhaps if they expect their guests to put up with this then they should advertise this on their website!  We have never  been told to expect fighting if we book a hotel at weekends before.   We have never experienced anything like this.  However as the member of staff told me  this there was a queue of people behind me waiting to check in not what your guests want to hear when checking in!  It was the worst night I have ever experienced in a hotel in all the years i've been staying in them. The hotel showed no empathy and concern for their customers it was disgraceful. We will never stay in this hotel again.

"Roundhouse round review"

10.0

The hotel was clean and reasonably priced. We weren’t aware of the 11pm curfew before arriving. This wasn’t an issue to us on this visit. Breakfast buffet was good although the male staff member in the restaurant need to be more friendly.

"Grim, noisy and unsafe"

2.0

One horrible, sleepless night spent here as a stopover. Charged for parking (not advertised on booking.com unfortunately). Surly receptionist. Big threats about car clamping if you don't cough up! Very welcoming! 1990s decor with frayed carpet, chewed (??!!) wardrobe, dirty windows. Room and bathroom was clean to be fair. Woken twice during the night by loud, sweary, shouty, drunken louts. It was a Sunday for God's sake!! The breakfast was lousy considering we paid £122! Dried out where it had been sitting for who knows how long? Coffee sachets from the rooms!! Not even a coffee machine! This is the 2nd worst hotel I've ever had the misfortune to stay in. DONT BOTHER

My bad review of this property may appear a little unfair given that I never even set foot in it. However, that was through no fault of my own, and I am still paying for it now. I booked a 2 night stay here, only to be called at 6pm on the day of planned arrival to be told that they had overbooked my room for both nights, meaning that at 6pm I had to try to find another hotel in Bournemouth. Everywhere was fully booked, so I had to turn the car around and head back home again! I was told by the very unhelpful, unapologetic woman on the phone that no money would be taken out of my account but would be in a ‘pending’ account somewhere. This would then be refunded to me within 5 days. Over one month later I am still awaiting this refund. Every time I call either Expedia or the Roundhouse Hotel to find out where my money is, I go round and round in circles. No one working in the hotel seems to be able to clarify with Expedia that I never attended the hotel in the first place, and Expedia don’t appear to record any conversation I’ve ever had with them, meaning I spend much of my time explaining the situation again and again, only to be met with the same response “we are waiting on the hotel to confirm you never stayed there”. I will never use Expedia again, nor would I ever recommend the company to anyone else. As for the Roundhouse Hotel, if it’s service in house is anything like it’s customer service over the phone, I dodged a bullet by not staying there.
