"Pleasant stay."

Friendliness and convenient location.

Breakfast mushrooms and fried egg cooked in oil. Healthier but not as tasty.

"Exceptional"

9.0

The staff were friendly and helpful, the locals we met in the bar were good fun and were happy to include us, the food was very good, the full English in the morning set us up for the day, if you visit here don't forget to ask about "baby Jeff". All in all we had a great stay.

"Lovely location but the service lets it down"

6.0

Great free and easy parking, lovely location surrounded by countryside. Room was nice but bathroom was very dated and unclean. This stay was let down by there being zero room service no matter how long you stay. You are given one tiny thimble size shower gel, towels, tea and coffee tray but nothing was ever replenished and the room wasn’t cleaned. Everything ran out on day one. The breakfast was ok but again I felt like everything was rationed. No attempt to ask if we wanted a top up of coffee etc and we felt uneasy asking. The hosts appear to be a husband/wife team without any staff at all and understandably they are stressed but you don’t want to go on holiday to be put on rations and have grumpy hosts! We felt almost like they didn’t really want us there! This place has so much potential but the service lets it down.

"Fab food"

8.0

A quaint pub exterior in need of a little sprucing up but inside is cosy and inviting. Couldn't say the same for the landlord but we were there for food, not to make more friends! 3 of the 4 of us chose Bob's steak pie (with peas and chips) and we were not disappointed. The pastry was yummy and the filling was scrumptious with melt in the mouth pieces of steak. We all chose a dessert which we all enjoyed. My banana caramel sundae was lovely. Would definitely return for more.

"The Jug and glass inn"

10.0

Booked up from the rural experience. What a delightful experience we had too. We arrived about 2pm but we knew our room wouldnt be ready till later so we had a drink. The lady who runs it is Vicky, she could see i was with poor mobility and she swapped us for a ground floor room. It is quite a small bar but there are other rooms throughout used mainly for meals. The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful. And good value being around£15 per meal. I had Scampi and chips with peas and a sidesalad , my husband had the hunters chicken which was tastier than ones he had before. It was a fresh chicken breast with a barbacue sauce that had a kick to it. Presented beautifully on large black plates. I then couldnt resist a pudding. I had a banana and caramel sundae. Worth every penny. At £6.95 The best i have ever had. Darryl serves the bar and serves the food while Vicky is busy cooking the meals. They were so welcoming . We stayed in the bar for a few drinks then went to our room. The room was spotless and very spacious. It had tea making facilities and bottled water. My husband slept like a log on the comfy bed. I didnt , but that is because of my condition. There were 2 bucket chairs which i spent half the night on. The bathroom was also spotless .Breakfast was enormous and so delicious.Full English. There were a lot of locals in , it was lovely listening to the tales they had to tell. I would recomend this pub and b and b to anyone. It was in the middle of the countryside with magnificent views. Probably had some walks around there but i obviously couldnt get out due to being with crutches. I couldnt find any faults. Its dog friendly also. I would go back there as it was so homely.Vicky works so hard running around while Darryl keeps the drinks coming and preparing some of the meals

"An Experience - Not going to be repeated!"

6.0

Not sure where many of the previous reviewers ( friends and family???) stayed!! Accommodation - bedrooms clean and adequate … but dont stay longer than a night as claim not enough staff to make up room, change sheets or refill tea tray, toiletries! You are reminded not to leave any electricals / lights on and to ‘ask’ if you want to plug your mobile in to charge!!! Eve meal to be fair was basic but plentiful! However breakfast !!!🙈 Assume not cooked by the eve Chef!!! The ‘full ‘ English ‘ - fry up but no cereal allowed!! Greasy tasted of ‘burnt fat’ -One round of toast allowed ! No offer to replace! Beans must be part of the overall cost savings regime - smart price!! 🙈No refill of tea offered! In fact male ‘mine host ‘ had no interaction whatsoever! 🙈 Beware, Cereal only served with the light breakfast - 2 rounds of toast and cereal choice! 🙈 Breakfast served 8-9 am and don’t be late- aforementioned host be looking angrily at his watch as it approaches 8.50 🙈 Bar area is cosy - translates to very small ! Nice selection of beers….. although must be full of ghosts as the few tables that exist all had reserved signs on!! Overall - could be better - def not a £125 per night stay!!
