"Expensive for what is on offer!"

Staff very friendly. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Nice serene ambiance.

Unfortunately we did struggle with the food options which are extremely limited. The outside private onsens really weren’t that different from the one we had in our room. I think there may have been one option which was more natural looking but difficult to get into as always occupied when we were there. There should be more drink options in your room than just beer. It’s sn expensive property not sure why they wouldn’t offer more than they do.

Without a car and with some luggage it was a bit of a stretch from the train station, knowing that the 10 minutes walk was on a steep street

This hotel is truly an experience on its own, and honestly, the photos on Booking don’t do it justice at all! Try to arrive as early as possible so you can fully enjoy everything the property has to offer. The authentic Japanese meals were fantastic, and the onsens, both the private bath on the balcony and the private/public onsens were amazing. The atmosphere, design of the space, and the staff were all great as well. We really enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely recommend it.

Wonderful ryokan-style inn in the heart of Hakone. Friendly staff. Large, comfortable room with onsen patio. Additional private onsens on property. We did not dine there but was told that was excellent also. Excellent location, up the hill a short walk from the main station.
