Imperial Hotel

Just made another return visit to the Imperial, could not really fault our stay, from our welcome to leaving, nice to see staff still there from previous visits so that to me says a lot!. Comfortable room, good food, entertainment good,lounges spacious,fellow guests all seemed to enjoy themselves as we did. The Hotel is situated in a great place, 50yard to sea front, nice easy 15 mins flat walk into Eastbourne town, we will be back!.

Stayed at this hotel for the first time. It was a lovely hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. Easy to use showers. The communal areas were also clean. The food was excellent and plentiful with lots of choice. The staff were friendly and helpful. True ambassadors for the hotel. Great place to stay and would love another visit. I wish them all every success and thank you each and everyone

Our party of 3 have been to all the Daish hotels and we ALL agree that this is the best. EVERY member of staff were exceptional especially our server Elwira who was cheerful, helpful and full of humour. They are an unbelievable team who work closely together and the maintenance man, Stephan (I think) also served me in the bar, pushed a disabled lady around in her wheelchair, and carried our numerous other tasks throughout the hotel and always with a great sense of humour. The room, although a bit dated, was extremely clean, thanks to Anna, who cleaned it while we were at breakfast. She obviously enjoyed her work as she was always singing as she worked. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and cooked to perfection. (well done chef) . The evening entertainment was first class, as you would expect in a Daish Hotel. A special mention to Natasha in the bar, who served us every night and even remembered our drinks . All three of us enjoyed it so much that, while we were still there, we booked to return in 4 weeks, for a Turkey and Tinsel break, in the same rooms and dining at the same table. Just returned from a 5 day break and enjoyed every minute. The staff make all the difference, nothing to much trouble for them and all so very friendly.. My husband really enjoyed his meals although I wasn’t as keen on the veggie options, our waitress Maria was brilliant. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable . We enjoyed all the entertainment especially Jane Jenkinson (what a voice and very entertaining) And a big thank you to our driver Brian who drove us down who went out of his way to return my scarf I’d left on the coach (service with a smile)

On arrival, we were allocated our room. We were not told that this room did not have a shower. When asked if we could change the room we were told this may be possible should a room become available. We were not told that the hotel was fully booked at this point, and that no rooms with showers would be available during our stay. After speaking to the reception staff regarding this, it became apparent that they could really benefit from a course in Customer service as they were extremely rude. However, I accept that a room with a shower should have been requested on booking. This hotel needs a complete refurbishment. The rooms are tired and old-fashioned and need painting. Most guests are elderly and need to use the lift, so two lifts that hold a maximum of three people each were not ideal in a fully booked hotel. The food was basic and poor quality. Regarding quantity, the food seemed to be measured out in portions, and if you asked for an extra cup of tea or a sachet of mayonnaise the request was always met with a 'no'. However, we travelled with a group and met some great people. The entertainment was very good and we had a good time. Would I return? Sadly, not until a much needed refurbishment has taken place.

I am disabled and access was not easy. I contacted the hotel in advance who warned me it would be difficult, but I had paid the non-refundable rate (I only have my state pension for income) and the hotel did not offer a refund- which they were entitled to do- given their recommendation I find an alternative hotel. It would be useful for the access issues to be available on the hotel website.

The room was too hot, the beds were wobbly although the mattress was comfortable enough. The fire alarm went off at 4am in the morning but was a false alarm. The rooms were ok but the corridor smelt of dried urine.

The rooms, the fire alarm, the smell in the corridor and view of rubbish from our window, albeit in another's property.

Bed was hard no plugs near bed shower dint work properly and had fire alarm go off at 4 in the morning no one new what was happening till I bump into a lady who phoned down to reception not very organised if there was a fire
