Villas Sol Beach Resort

We spent 16 days at Villas Sol and enjoyed it very much. We had a wonderful ocean view room that was clean and comfortable. The view and sunsets are amazing. The resort feels more like an authentic Costa Rican experience than some larger resorts, which we appreciate very much. The beach in Playa Hermosa has been one of our favourites for many years. We had the meal plan and surprisingly did not tire of it. There was a nice mix of Costa Rican and international cuisine. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Carlos, Stanley, Tamara, Maria, Sophia, Jason Dayana & Haley all served us with friendly smiles and took time to chat with us and even attempted to teach us a little more Spanish. They feel like friends after 16 days! Marco was also kind enough to check in with us regularly to ensure our time here was going well. All of the chefs did a wonderful job and food was always tasty. On our final night, chef Fander surprised us with a special dessert. The bartenders were also very kind and made the effort to know our preferences. Photographer, Chelo, took beautiful photos of us at sunset and we were pleased to bring home some sweet memories in one of our favourite places. He was very friendly and helpful. Byron who works in entertainment/activities was a pleasure to chat with as well. The cleaning staff did a very good job keeping our room clean and tidy. There are many more staff that we haven’t named, but we can honestly say they were all friendly, kind and competent. We had a wonderful experience at Villas Sol and will be happy to return in the future!

Excellent, overall. Beautiful nature view,birds tropical trees. Staff members friendly. Activity annimator, Tracy, brings a lot of fun and positive vibes to the resort. Hope to come back and see her again.

We had a wonderful experience at Villa Sol. The views were amazing, all the staff was extremely friendly, all inclusive food and drinks were good, and we loved the swim up bar. Also the beach is just a short walk or shuttle away, and the beach water was warm and clear. Special shout out to staff Stanley, Carlos, and Dayana. They were all great. Would recommend to others. Pura Vida!

We were pleased with the staff and the food was better than we anticipated. Everything was fresh and tasty.

Villas Sol was beautiful and relaxing. On the first day, while exploring down to the beach, we met Iñaki at his morning office, just beach side. Instantly comfortable with him, he is just one of those people who always puts a smile on your face. He helped set us up with a zip lining tour, scuba diving and and a truly magical sunset catamaran cruise. Generally, I avoid booking tours through a resort concierge, but this time has a different feel, and I'm so glad we chose to book through him. He remained in direct contact throughout our trip, and made sure we experienced true value every step of the way. I'm keeping his number in my phone for return trips, as he is just that good. Villas Sol was comfortable, the rooms were spotless, the amenities top notch. But at the end of the week, it was Iñaki who made the trip special.

Everything was wonderful and we had a fabulous experience! the food was good and there was enough to do to keep us busy!

The pictures aren’t exactly how it looks now, it needs some love and care (makeover). We chose the Villa rental and although it was cute the beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom needed a huge upgrade. The restaurant drinks were not good at all and the food was repetitive. The staff is pleasant, shout out to Marciel one of the shuttle drivers who was amazing and went out his way to show us some beautiful scenery. The beach needs some love as well. Visit the restaurant across the facility their food is amazing!! Sadly I wouldn’t visit this facility or location again, you need a car to get out of this super quiet area.

We wanted to stay in the Playa Hermosa area, and we've been in this area before but never at Villas Sol. The location is absolutely beautiful, the grounds are very well kept and very clean. Even though walking is a good option, the property can be very steep in places and the shuttle service around the property runs frequently. It's a nice beach, there is a good spot to snorkel when you turn right and walk to the end. It's rocky under water and that attracts a few more fish. Food at the restaurant was buffet style and while good, it wasn't a highlight. The restaurant seems a little disorganized, but it works. Would we go back? Maybe, but we would look for other less expensive options first.
