Villas Sol Beach Resort

From start to finish, Inaki made sure booking our adventure was the best package to accommodate our needs. He was very knowledgeable about costa rica. He was most pleasant and kind . Highly recommend connecting with Inaki on your next trip to playa hermosa . We had such an amazing time on monkey island , swimming and snorkeling. A time to remember!!

The views are beautiful! The staff is awesome! The rooms are nice but the beds, hey, you're not there to sleep!

We enjoyed our stay at Villas Sol. The staff was excellent. They were really friendly and helpful. By the end of the stay we were giving goodbye hugs to several of them. The rooms were clean, if not modern and spacious. This is a place where you want to spend your time outdoors enjoying the view and doing activities. Dining with a view of the ocean was a favorite. The pools and the resort activities were great. It's really hilly, but there is a shuttle that runs throughout the property if you're not up for walking. The other fantastic thing was we were less than a 10 min walk, or 3 minute drive via the shuttle to Playa Hermosa. The property offered various beach activities, including paddleboarding and kayaking, during the week. My family thoroughly enjoyed our time.

Accommodations were ok, service at the dining area was sub par. Did advise management about halfway through our stay. They were responsive but we didn’t see a change

The property is run down and old. Pictures look better than what it really is. The rooms are not sealed and bugs get into the room / villa. We had bugs everywhere. The food selection is not good at all. I would suggest another location because there is almost nothing to do with kids on the property - pretty disappointing

I wanted to like this place but the music was so loud every single night until 10pm! It was so frustrating we had to find stuff to do until 10 because we definitely didn't sleep. We had to wake up early one day for our waterfall tour in Liberia but couldn't sleep because of the music! So frustrating! Everything else was fine, the beds were not the most comfortable thing ever and the room was pretty small but for the most part it's fine. You do have to wait on a shuttle to get to the beach and then everyone is trying to sell you something when you get down there. I will be spending my money elsewhere next time.

Close to the beach and the staff was so nice.

My family and I visited this resort in 2008 and it did not seem to have been updated since then. The pros were the view and the beach. The cons were numerous. In order to get to the room we had to wait for the truck with benches to pick us up. It’s ironic that there is not a path or stairs to the hotel rooms. The distance to the beach was walkable along the road but it was not close by. There were two pools but they were not very clean. The bar food was horrible. The nachos recipe was awful- mayonnaise on nachos? Ketchup? The breakfast buffet was acceptable but not anything above or beyond. The rooms were adequate but we found it unnerving that the raccoons had to be addressed. A colleague had them open the sliding door in the middle of the night and they went after the sugar packets for coffee and attempted to take a backpack. We also had an issue with the pool towels. We were told they would be in our rooms but when they weren’t the pool attendant would not let us sign for a towel. Thankfully a manager intervened but it took a long time.

My wife and I just spent 9 incredible days at Villas Sol, an all inclusive (yes, food and drinks) in Guanacaste located on the side of a mountain overlooking Hermosa Beach We were impressed with Lasey at Reception, she was pleasant, professional and very, very tolerant of my poor Spanish. Our room was (2115), with a lovely balcony, and was a two-minute walk from the pool . The room was generous in size with a smallish TV. The bed was VERY hard. The grounds were beautifully maintained by friendly gardeners and the shuttle drivers were excellent. Both pools were great. The one by the restaurant was great for kids as well as adults. A larger pool with a wet bar is also very accessible. The restaurant staff we encountered including were the hardest working staff we have encountered anywhere in the world. Their friendliness and assistance in helping us learn more Spanish was very much appreciated. It made our meals a lot more enjoyable. Watching the staff interacting with both adults and babies was a delight. Their speed at cleaning tables and asking you if you needed anything was very impressive. The food was typically Costa Rican with enough variety to appease everyone’s palates. There was also a special kid’s menu available Shuttles ran from the Restaurant, hotel and the beach, approximately every ten minutes. We found the Costa Rican people very friendly and helpful (helping lifting suitcases on and off the shuttle for example. The beach was very accessible, the sand, brown and the water delightfully warm and welcoming. No surfing waves, but lots of play space and aquatic activities available. The sunsets were spectacular and the wildlife, whilst not prolific there were enough (large) iguanas, yellow birds and Costa Rican Bluejays to keep you happy. Watch for the bluejays, to fly into the restaurant, pinch a piece of carrot cake and fly off. My wife and I had a wonderful time and highly recommend Villas Sol. We used Guanacaste Viajes and Tours as a shuttle to and from the airport – highly professional and reasonably priced.
