The Angel Inn, Petworth

Characterful building in a great location in Petworth town centre. Our room was small but very nicely decorated. We requested twin beds which were provided. The bedding was very good quality as was the overall decor of the room, with lovely fabrics used for the curtains and matching cushions. The furniture was stylish and also of good quality. An air con unit was provided although we didn’t need it. A coffee machine with pods and a variety of teas were provided with the offer of fresh milk. The Angel benefits from a lovely garden with plenty of tables and chairs and shade when needed. Towelling robes were also provided.

We liked everything really. The only comment I would make is that the bathroom, whilst perfectly functional was not as on point as the bedroom and it needs some attention. I found it at odds with the rest of the accommodation that toiletries provided were unbranded and one bottle had a piece of masking tape stuck on it with a handwritten note “ Body wash & Hair wash” . The handwash was from Aldi. I would have expected for £214 for the night that there would have been some better quality toiletries.

Very pleasant staff who enabled us to check in a little earlier as we had a wedding to go to in the afternoon. Lovely breakfast. Clean room and instruction given to access accomodation if returning late.

Perhaps i'm just very tight but I found the price a bit steep. Parking was a bit of a nightmare. Managed to get parked but that was after I circled the one way system 3 times.

when you pay £161 for a room in a pub you expect that pub to be open in the evening so that you can relax, have a drink and something to eat. The pub closed at 6pm and did not serve food, there is no where within walking distance to eat so if like us you book thinking you are going to have a chilled out evening in a country pub to relax you will be disappointed. The stairs up to the rooms have torn carpet which sets the scene for the room, stained carpet, stained ceilings, stained sink and cheap soap and accessories. Having stayed there in the past we were disappointed in the standard of the hotel now and also that it is closed when you are staying there

There's nothing not to love

A wonderful character building and a very welcoming receptionist! The evening servers were lovely and smiling. A lovely room and ensuite. A perfect location for exploring Petworth.

We were taken to a room that, very disappointingly, wasn't the one we had booked. This was blamed on booking.com. The room we had was still lovely but it was hard to get over something that had been looked forward to for a special occasion. We were told they were in the same price zone, but we don't think they were. A tray for the teapot would be good as it doesn't pour well and makes a mess on the wood. Only one morning teabag and broken biscuits to greet us. The vegan options were disappointing at dinner.
