The staff were friendly

I have written to the hotel owner privately with some suggestions for improvement

Room was freezing! Window had a very bad draft. "Double bed" was very small. We both nearly fell out as it wasn't big enough. Shower was not warm enough, and bathroom was even colder than main room. Sink was in the main, rather small, bedroom rather than the bathroom. Paid for two nights but left after one.

If this was a deluxe room Im not sure what a standard one looks like. The photos on the site make it look much more glamorous. There was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke in the entrance and hall. Very old coir matting on the stairs. The carpet in the room was old and grubby and the bed very hard. Ok if you like that. Very basic is how I would describe it.

The room was extremely cold. There was no heating. I asked for this to be rectified but the hotel did nothing to help and ignored my request for heating to be switched on. I subsequently didn't stay because of the cold room. Temperature outside was single figures temperature as it is winter, but no heating on in the room or hotel.

Everything. Stank of bad cooking. Room was dirty. Freezing cold, appalling draught. We stayed one hour and left.

The room was fine and in particular the bed was very comfortable. The facilities were as described but we found it rather isolating that there were no hotel staff in the building. We accessed our room using a keysafe on the front door, which enabled us to have some useful flexibility for check-in. It was good having car parking immediately adjoining the building.
