Hotel Riu Plaza Miami Beach

Great location with a nice vibe! For families with beach and pool a fantastic place to choose in Miami, not in the busiest area what is my preference.

Great location, free trolley pick up out front, 300 ft to the beach , beach chairs included Great pool and area, Clean, great staff Breakfast was unbelievable anything you could ever want We were very pleased

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights after a cruise, the location of the hotel was great, right next to the beach and on the pickups for sightseeing companies. The bedroom we had was spacious , deluxe seaview, clean and in good order with a large balcony with good views of the pool garden and sea. The aircon for the room and corridors was too cool for us, and the hard floors of the corridors made any sounds amplified , so noisy when people and staff moved about. Also the laundry yard next door had lots of trucks coming and going which was quite loud. Food was good qua;ity but a bit samey. Communication with staff was a bit difficult at times due to language barrier. The pool was lovely and the garden/beach surround was well looked after . Plenty of sun loungers.

We stayed here for the location. The trolley, hop on- hop off and local bus stop right on front of the hotel. Loved the easy access to the beach and they have best breakfast! Will definitely return

I stayed at the RIU Plaza Miami Beach from October 26–27 with my family to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday after a wonderful cruise. We chose RIU based on its reputation for quality and hospitality, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. From the moment we arrived, service was lacking. We were told our room wasn’t ready and would be notified via email — which never came. When we returned late in the evening, a staff member named Alvin placed our luggage on a trolley and walked away, leaving me to manage it alone while caring for my three-year-old in a pushchair. This lack of courtesy was shocking. The first room smelled strongly of damp — a serious concern as I suffer from asthma. The alternative room offered was next to a loud extractor fan, making it unsuitable for my daughter to sleep. With no other options available, we had to accept it. The next morning, my mother raised a complaint, and I spoke with the manager, Janneth Monroy. While she waived the resort fee, extended our check-out, and offered lunch, these gestures didn’t make up for the discomfort and disruption we endured. Additional issues included: * Being locked out of our room despite the agreed late check-out * The main lift being out of order, forcing us to use a service lift that felt unsafe * Several staff members being noticeably rude and unwelcoming I contacted RIU’s customer service afterward, hoping for a meaningful resolution. Their response acknowledged my concerns but ultimately deflected responsibility to my booking agent, and offered no further compensation. I found this disappointing, especially given that the issues were directly related to the hotel’s service and facilities. RIU’s brand promises excellence, but our experience was a stark contrast. What should have been a joyful family occasion was marred by repeated service failures and a lack of basic hospitality. I hope RIU takes this feedback seriously and improves its guest experience moving forward.

This hotel is quite a distance from South Beach although there is a free trolley that stops outside (just take care you are getting on in the right direction!). There is no parking except for valet at $50 pn which is a right cash cow for them! The breakfast buffet has lots of choice but the same every day. The room was nice and clean however the shower head was too large for the holder so kept falling on you mid-shower. The Housekeeping room was quite near our room so it meant we were woken early most days by the staff shouting and calling to each other - not helped by the lack of carpet in the hallways to deaden the sounds. There was only 2 lifts working the whole time of our stay - this meant some fairly lengthy waits to get back to the room, not helped by the staff using 1 (which was the back lift) even to go up just 1 floor without any baggage. On check-out we mistakenly left a drawer full of items - we called the hotel as soon as we realised (later that same day) but they advised they were unable to mail anything (even still within the US) but we could return to collect it (and they would store it indefinitely!). I know leaving the item was our fault but surely this must happen regularly and therefore large hotels would have a way of dealing with this (for a fee of course)! We were already over 5 hours drive away. When we pursued the return, we were eventually advised (a few days later) that nothing had been found in our room although that had not been mentioned before! Lucky lucky housekeeping team getting my gear, still with tags on!! Because of this, I will not be using Riu hotels again.

Was a great location and fantastic view from the 9 floor,the beach is at the back of the hotel and ,breakfast was great something for everyone taste buds

It was our first time staying at this hotel in Miami, but we’ve been guests of the brand for quite some time — and as always, everything was perfect! Great service, comfort, excellent location, and that consistent quality we can always count on. Another excellent stay, as usual! 🌴✨

Good location. Breakfast buffet was good. Hotel is lovely and clean but rooms were disappointing. Room small, double beds small, no privacy on balcony. Bathroom door has gap. Found it noisy in room from corridor. Staff at alligator bar were absolutely lovely and also in the cafe/bar. Couple of issues with staff on the patio at night. Waited ages on getting served drinks and ended up going to the bar to order drinks. This happened a couple of times. Trying to get staff for tea at breakfast was also an issue. So quick in telling me i couldnt take a small roll and a small bagel out of the buffet in a serviette for my daughter, who had a bit too much sun and didnt come down for breakfast. But try to get hot water for tea was a nightmate. Felt sometimes they were particlar about who they wanted to give attention to. Just have a hot water machine like the coffee one and that won't be an issue as it was very frustrating. I am not sure i would stay here again. Feel it's not a 4 star hotel. Rooms and service in some areas let it down.

This was our first time in Miami with family and finding a great hotel was an important part of organizing our trip. Booking at Riu was a great decision. Perfect location, excellent services including receptionists, restaurant, pool and everything else. A note for those who are planning their trip now and to rent a car: we had read about the difficulties with valet parking so decided to rent a car daily. So we picked up the car near the hotel in the morning (almost every major car rental company has an office on Collins Avenue - we did it at Hertz, which is two blocks away), and dropped it off that evening, then strolled back to the hotel. It was convenient and cheap.
