Winchester Wessex Hotel by Sunday

Peaceful and clean, lots to see and visit in the area.

The location on our first day was a bit annoying because there was a scout march/walk was right around the hotel. So our lift that we had from basingstoke could not take us to entrance so we had to walk with our luggage to get there. The booking.com should have informed us of this via email etc. Also when staying more than 1 night, more milk should be offered.

The location was perfect.

Reception was very helpful. Staff at the bar would ignore you when no one else there & walk away. The breakfast team seemed out of their depth. Food was slow to be produced, tables not cleaned & quite short when speaking to customers. Rooms could have been cleaner.

I used to work in this hotel 50 years ago doing maintenance,and always loved its location ,so glad to see all still looks good

Just very minor ,tv a bit large for my taste,cold tap wouldn't turn off properly and maybe little more light for reading at night otherwise absolutely fine

Paid £13.50 for breakfast. Went down to Warcraft 8am - there were no cups for hot drinks, no glasses, no fruit, yoghurt of pastries. There was hot food which stone cold. When we asked was there fruit, juicecetc and glasses, cups etc we were told to have hot food first!! THE HOT FOOD WAS VOLD. They came out with tea cups for juices as there were no clean glasses. The coffee machine wasn't working properly. Completely unacceptable. Apparently there were only two young girls on breakfast duty as all the other staff had called in sick (I wonder did the fabulous weather have anything to do with that!!) Why didn't management assist in service instead of leaving 2 young women to deal with it. Other guests were equally unhappy and said, 'Thank God we only booked for one night' When we complained at reception on check out, we were told to tell the bar staff as reception couldn't do anything about it! We were rushing to a meeting and couldn't wait for bar staff. The whole hotel needs refurbishing, the bedroom I stayed in was like something out of the 1960's, only with a bathroom! Awful room - old fashioned furniture. Smelt of garlic. Dirty door. No air conditioning. No fridge. Noisy location. Nightclub blaring music until 2am - noise from people going home until 3am. Needless to say, I won't be staying here again, and neither will my friends! Worst hotel I have ever been in, and definitely the worst breakfast! Awful place!
