Holiday Inn Basildon by IHG

Stay here was very good room was very clean, food was very good and Thayn behind the bar was very friendly and a great guy to have a conversation with.

Everything is great apart from accessible showers.

Everything was fine. However, there was some sort of party/gathering outside the front of the hotel, with music and drinking, that I could hear from my hotel room from about 3am to 7am. Not loud enough to be a real nuisance for me, but I expect other hotel guests sleep was affected by it.

I've had another fantastic stay. Staff were extremely friendly. Im on crutches and the restaurant is upstairs so they brought breakfast down to me. Marina was lovely and nothing was too much hassle. Had a lovely chat to her each morning and Thayn looked after me well and took time each morning to say hello as I was on my own. Can't thank them enough. Room service was fabulous too and if u get a chance to try the sweet potato fries do it as you won't regret it 😃 😋

Disappointed that parking charges introduced since previous stay were not clear when booking, which meant was not best value booking. Corridors and therefore room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. Bathroom areas of mould around bath/shower area. Although convenient for an event we were attending fell some way short of expectations.

You find out when you get there tgat it is going to cost you a whopping £15 to park your car (despite blue badge). Breakfast in the morning involves ascending around 25 stairs with no lift(not an easy task for a guest with very limited mobility). Couldnt eat the eggs as i didnt have a chisel handy. Server snatched away my slice of toast just as i had buttered it, absolutely will not go again.

Needed a bed for the night & Friends were staying here (we prefer Travelodge - cheaper - usually). Reluctantly had breakfast, the hash brown bites were a nice change, the rest was edible. Staff very nice. Unfortunately, a major disappointment was that a female guest in the restaurant (!) was talking very loud on her telephone which was on its speaker. Her young son was also on his phone with the speaker whilst he was watching something, he was also walking around the food placing the phone down by the food several times! I appreciate not all customers have manners (these definitely didn’t) but I do feel it should have been the staff’s job to ask them to be more considerate. The two really ruined my peaceful morning & hotel experience - which will live in my head!

Great service and stay - amazing manager called Christy! Used it for an event happening at the Elizabeth suite and it was fantastic
