Newton Country Hotel Burton Upon Trent

Receptionist was extremely helpful, she realised my wife could not manage two flights of stairs and found us a ground floor room. Also bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

There's 'Shabby and Chic' unfortunately this had lost the chic..

I remember when this hotel looked a little tired........about 20 years ago. It needs demolishing or refurbishing and it needs it urgently. The staff were lovely but the hotel is barely fit for purpose. It´s brand damaging for Mercure

Great hotel for the money! After reading some of the reviews I was a little sceptical! However the hotel was superb. Comfortable large room very clean, nice bathroom & great view of open country side. Very friendly staff all helpful & polite. We were very impressed with our stay & would recommend.

Charming staff very helpful and chatty. Excellent breakfast and room.

No lunch on offer on a Saturday afternoon which was odd. Outrageously expensive breakfast. It was over £10, for some beans. Sausage and egg. Hardly earth shattering ingredients. People started packing away the breakfast whilst we were still eating. Nice hotel and location. No shops nearby and I paid £4 for a bottle of water. Come on, this is crazy.

Lovely room. Friendly staff. Neighbours noisy and breakfast room not large enough for everyone and couldn’t keep up with hot food. Would stay again though.

The single room was very small and dated
