Seagull Bay Motel

Fantastic location right on the brownstone trail; walking distance to the center of town, and great views of the lake. Room was very spacious and comfortable. Only issue was the AC/heat is set to one or the other for the entire property. We tend to like cold sleeping. Units were set to heat, so could not run the AC. Temps were upper 70s in the day, 50's at night - took a while for the room to cool down at night.

The room is decorated very nicely and super clean. I prefer a less firm mattress but others might enjoy how firm they are. The chairs in the room look nice but are not comfortable for sitting and watching TV. The microwave and fridge in the room were handy and I appreciated the available coffee supplies and toiletry items. Bayfield is.a highly popular tourist destination which is likely the reason for the room rate. I appreciated the backyard, chairs to sit outside, outdoor lighting and access to a walking trail. This property overlooks the lake with stunning views but is not down at lake level and no direct access to a beach. But you can walk it quickly drive to restaurants, bars and attractions. Checking was easy using a QR code in the lobby or they mentioned texting info but I didn't receive that text. Pay attention to your room choice as they have many options and I missed that ours didn't have a kitchenette but we managed with fridge and microwave. All in all a nice place to stay.

TV not very easy to navigate and the service kept bouncing in and out. The unit was very clean and the view was very nice.

We rented room with a kitchen. The kitchen had a stove, 1 very small sauce pan, a set of flat ware, a set of dishes and glasses. There was no skillet, no cutting board, no kitchen knives, no cooking utensils! Our room was on the ground/1 st floor. We had other guests walk right by our sitting area. No privacy. Reaching thelower level requires more physical agility. The setting is nice with a view of the lake. It is also along the beautiful Browstone Trail. The trail leads to the marina and into town. Unfortunately for us a downed tree enden up blocking the trail.

The location was great for us - very walkable into town, particularly using the Brownstone Trail which runs directly behind the hotel. We really enjoyed our visit to Bayfield. It’s a cute little hotel but unfortunately we apparently got the only room with zero outside relaxation space (despite there being vacancies). So if you can avoid room #1 (which is essentially part of a small house at the front of the property), it’s likely that it’s a very nice place to stay. We hauled a couple of plastic chairs down from the ice house to a backyard deck for a bit, but opted to go downtown and sit in the public park instead.

Room #1 was a bit tight, essentially a small hotel room with a king size bed and a very small table. Because there’s no other place to sit, most of our time was spent in the bed. The mattress is a bit soft, and based on sitting on it to put on clothes or tie my shoes, it seems to be worn out, not simply a soft mattress. The room is very well soundproofed, so that was a plus, as it’s quite close to the main road that comes into town. Since there are only 2 windows, one looking out over the parking spot and entrance to “the cottage room” and the other overlooking the walkway to unit #2, it was helpful to have quiet neighbors.

Very nice and clean room. Friendly people and easy walk to water, shopping and restaurants. Would definitely visit again.

We were 3 adults staying in the BayWest basement walkout for 2 nights. It has one A/C unit in the kitchen area so the very low output of air would never make it to the back bedroom which is the only room without windows. It wasn't a big deal for us because the temp got cooler at night but I image it would be uncomfortable during the hot summer months. The shower is quite small but did appreciate the double sink. The biggest issue is the above "Residence" unit. It sounded like elephants were stomping around. I know the folks were walking normally but there is no sound insulation at all. We could hear them talking also. Overall, our stay was fine. I would maybe stay in a different unit there but not this one again

Property has an excellent waterfront view. Sits on a hillside on edge of Bayfield. Nice backyard area with picnic tables and trees. Wood deck runs across back of entire building, shared with other rooms. Good access to Bayfield activities and restaurants. Older property but in overall good condition. Excellent newer A/C unit was very quiet and efficient. Queen bed was comfortable. Room and bath were typical older-motel compact size. Room was quiet with no traffic or neighboring-room noise. Service level on par with AirBnB, never saw any staff until checkout, everything is basically self-serve. An annoyance for wife was lock of hair dryer in room. A bit hard to reach staff after hours, as they are not on site, but did eventually resolve. Suggestion: Hotel should put hair dryers in all rooms...an expected amenity in 2025. At this price point, guests should not have to hunt through lobby looking for a $15 hair dryer. Overall, recommended.

Beautiful location and close to town! The staff was friendly and very accommodating regarding extra towels, etc. Privacy wasn't the best due to people constantly passing by our window so we had to keep our blind closed. Plus, there were noises and conversations that could be heard throughout our stay. The remodeled room was beautiful and air condition was nice at night with the warm weather. However, there was only one nightstand, no place to hang clothing, other than a hook for a coat. The seating inside, and out, was very uncomfortable as well. Being on the lower level of the building we had to walk quite a ways from the parking lot depending on where we could find a parking spot. We booked through 'Hotels.com' and were quoted a lower price than we actually paid by an extra $100+ per night. We would not have stayed here if we had known this would happen.
