Fingal - A Luxury Floating Hotel

Excellent stay. Would highly recommend!

Everything was just perfect

Decided to come here with friends and my mother as a nice day out for afternoon tea and cocktails. We went through various places of where to go and having stayed her once and had afternoon tea here four times myself and my husband recommended here . We have not been here since 2022. On arrival staff very polite but noted to be much smaller amount of staff on duty than previous visits. We waited for over forty minutes for our drinks order ( which we had to ask if we could order drinks) which seemed odd given there were only seven of us and another two tables with couples. We booked five meat eaters and two Vegetarian NOT vegan. For the meat eaters they reported their afternoon tea was “nice” and array of savoury treats sandwiches and cakes. They were happy and enjoyed the experience. Myself and my mother were given what appeared to be a bowl of hummus without anything to dip into it, a tiny bowl of vegetable Battons with further hummus in that bowl , one roll with what looked like dried out car food which was inedible , one roll with disgusting fake feta cheese and a further roll with cucumber and fake cream cheese. The cakes consisted of a dried out banana loaf and two tiny apple droplets on top on inedible pastry. At no point did the hotel ask if we could eat cheese , eggs etc as the afternoon teas previously were full of lovely savouries and delicious sandwiches . Getting through this one was dire and we eventually gave up!! I informed the staff it was actually disgusting. I feel the hotel are trying to cut corners by giving us the vegan food!! For an establishment such as the fingal it was way below substandard and after we complained we got £2o off each of the two afternoon teas ( they were £65). Staff were extremely apologetic and agreed wholeheartedly with my complaint. In fact they informed myself they had numerous complaints along the same lines which they have passed on to management but as of yet nothing has changed. I Have had such lovely experiences here in the past, this was a huge let down and I will not be returning. There are so many alternatives for afternoon tea within Edinburgh but sadly would not recommend here .

The stay was phenomenal at Fingal. The staff were personable, efficient, and overall outstanding. The room was unique, comfortable, and luxurious. We had a great time. The daily breakfasts were phenomenal and the restaurant was first class and well-deserving of the 2 Rosettes. We will stay at the Fingal upon our return.

Had a marvellous stay at Fingal Hotel during Aug 2025. The accommodation was excellent and staff very attentive. Food was delicious and creative. All amenities were quality products. Appreciated the complimentary tickets to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. Car parking free, very close to the hotel and easily accessed.

WOW - what a fine experience. Every guest treated as a royal! Our 43rd anniversary was special and they honored us. Great crew and staff! Lovely comfortable rooms with luxurious linens, robes, slippers, towels! Spectacular food and drink with water views. My fish was EXPERTLY prepared, raved to the chefs who came to our table. Such a shame to only have 1 night, will be back. Thank you, Finn (McCool) for the excellent service and to all those at Breakfast. Do book for the Royal Yach Britannia and tea with your Fingal booking. Such a treat to skip all the lines and enjoy on your own time.

Nice stay

This was our second stay on Fingal, we came for 3 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary & treated ourselves to a suite upgrade. I am so glad we did, we had the most wonderful stay. The suite was amazing. It had a huge & very comfortable bed, we had a seating area & the bathroom had a fantastic walk in shower. All beautifully decorated & kept immaculately clean by housekeeping. All the staff are exemplary and always greeted us when we left & came back on board. Great selection at breakfast, cooked perfectly. We also had dinner one evening which was delicious. We will definitely be back when we are in Edinburgh again.

We arrived quite early for our booking and yet, the staff were amazing and accommodated us in every way. They were so sweet, it felt like home away from home. The chef is a MASTER in culinary arts. The scenery and area are beautiful! If you get the chance to stay here, it is worth every cent!

One of the most unique experiences we’ve had ! The staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful ! The attention to detail throughout the ship was incredible ! Can’t wait to go back !
