Mercure Haydock Hotel

The room was very clean, and had good air conditioning, the hotel its self presents well from the front on arrival.

I personally visited the hotel to make the booking, the 2 very indifferent receptionists, made absolutely no eye contact, mumbled, when they could not access the 3 booking processes available to themselves, and when I explained I had seen they had rooms on the internet they just shuffled and mumbled, it's probably best if you go back home and book online. I have ran Major companies in the UK and USA, and whoever gave them the position as front of house reception, was a shocking mistake, they didn't look smart and in my opinion, they didn't stand up straight, and failing to make eye contact, and failing to smile at anytime, takes away from the hotels overall presentation, super unhelpful. If we had lost the room I would have been furious, I booked it for a friend who was 160 miles away from home.

Room was bigger than i thought it was good value for 2 nights.

I cant ask much more of the staff. The location of the hotel was nkt as close to where i was planning on going. But that is on me not the hotel.

The mattress was far too hard. Both my wife and I had a very poor sleep both nights as a result. We both woke stiff and sore

Stayed for 2 nights for our son’s wedding from check in to checking out this morning everything was fabulous. Rooms comfortable, food lovely and absolutely amazing staff, special mention to Abi, Jodie,Nicki and Ellie who made sure everything was just so. Nothing was too much trouble. The day was perfect!

The bedroom we booked was supposed to be large double bed and we ended up with 2 x single beds and single mattresses pushed together
