La Mariposa Hotel

I would recommend this hotel HIGHLY. The staff is absolutely wonderful. So attentive, everybody will address you by name and ensure you are comfortable throughout your stay. The property is lush and full of wild life - I saw many monkeys, sloths, birds directly on the property. The view from the restaurant is beautiful as is the pool. The rooms are a little on the empty side but fully functional otherwise. I had an unforgettable trip here! Don’t forget to book an excursion to Manuel Antonio park in advance it is so worth it.

The hotel was on a beautiful property with beautiful views. That is a definite. But for the price we paid compared to some of the lesser priced properties in the area, we did not experience the Customer Service that we would have expected. Another review commented that you walk by the reception area and nobody greets you or even looks up. That is absolutely the truth. We did not get coffee for the machine in our room one morning and my husband walked to the front desk to get some and the reply was "just wait for the buffet to open in 30 minutes". We never got the coffee. The morning buffet was always running out of items with nobody walking around to refill. At a luxury resort I would think it would be a good idea for someone to walk around and refill coffee or some form of interaction. One day we tried to get a towel for the pool and were sent 3 different locations to find. Anyone of those people could have said "I will get you one and bring it to you" which was the service we received at The Falls Resort. With all of this being said, I still gave it a 4 because of the property views, the monkeys all around and the OUTSTANDING dinner one night in the restaurant. The waiters were AMAZING and customer service the best.

One of my favorite vacations! Costa Rica was my 24th country and it couldn’t have been a better trip. The property was amazing. Lots of wildlife and beautiful views, great staff. We will stay again.

The location, the views, the tropical garden were all stunning.

We had a most amazing stay at La Mariposa. The staff was kind, arranged our airport transportation and excursions. The views were absolutely stunning, a beautiful ocean facing room on the top floor. The servers are bartenders were efficient, friendly and welcoming. Would love to come back and stay here again. Great location to excellent restaurants and shopping. Overall top notch visit!

My only complaints were that the coffee was very weak

My husband and I honeymooned 20 years ago at La Mariposa and had only the fondest memories. We knew for our 20th anniversary we wanted to share with our friends and family. Our room was a sunset view that gave us a front row seat to the monkey’s shenanigans at the sunset bar. Luis at Le Papillon made planning a party easy. The food was delicious, the atmosphere beautiful, and the server Gianfranco was the best! Kendall at the pool bar was a crowd favorite! Our celebration could not have gone better. THANK YOU TO ALL for making it magical.

We had a wonderful time at La Mariposa. The location is spectacular and the service made it perfect. I need an ice pack nearly all time and the staff was so helpful getting me cold ones when the other one got too warm. They also were delightful when serving meals. I want to make special mention of Yerald, Joseph, Diego, Aldo and John. (I'm sure I'm forgetting some of them). And seeing monkeys and sloths right at the hotel was also pretty special.
