Property was set in a lovely location. Swimming pool, games room available

The first room we were placed in was nice but tired. The jacuzzi was closed on day 2, there is some refurbishment being carried out. Due to staff shortage not enough staff at breakfast, a wait to be seated with no glasses or juice available.

Goede locatie. Sfeervol hotel. Zeker de algemene ruimtes. Zeer Schots ingericht.

We zijn eerder in Thainstone geweest. De service is minder geworden. De kamer werd minimalistisch bijgehouden. Geen goede aanvulling van koffietafel en gebruikte kopjes werden niet afgewassen. Moesten we zelf voor zorgen. Het ontbijt was altijd voortreffelijk. Nu nog steeds erg goed maar er is versoberd in de variatie. Zalm is niet meer bij het ontbijt dat was voorheen wel. Maar misschien lag het wel aan de drukte omdat het Paasweekend was.

I arrived in the middle of a storm and the front door area was cordoned off, a quick call to the hotel and within a very short time a young man came out to take me into the hotel. Booking in was very easy with a full explanation of all the facilities, the room was a good size very comfortable very clean and warm. Breakfast was really good, great choices and very well cooked and presented. This was my 3rd stay and on each occasion the staff have been exceptional in the way they have looked after us

Very unlucky due to some staffing issues i believe. Hall used for dinner was freezing cold - meal was removed from the bill due to this. Snug not open Cleanliness was not up to standard

Room was spacious and the location is very good.

Generally seemed to be understaffed. When we arrived at reception, the adjacent lounge area had several table covered in dishes and dirty cups. These were not cleaned away until the next day. This make a very poor impression. I got the impression that the team were doing the best they could with few resources. The room itself was spacious but a bit dated. We had dinner in the bar as the restaurant was closed. This meal was incredibly disorganised and the service was absent. Half of us would receive our food, while the other half would have to wait half an hour. Once we had all the food, there was no cutlery. When we ordered wine, it never arrived. We had to go downstairs to a different bar to ask again. The food itself was decent, but the overall experience was poor. The did give a significant discount on the bill? Which was much appreciated and a nice gesture. The most significant problem was the fact that they refused to accept my credit card, even though it was listed as accepted in several places. I followed up with the head office which started positively, with an apparent willingness to come to a resolution. After some follow up I've heard nothing since. There was a clear difference in story between the hotel and the head office - causing a lot of confusion and frustration. Overall a very disappointing and unprofessional experience.
