SpringHill Suites by Marriott Houston Brookhollow

After not being able for reach the location the day we left for Houston, I contacted the chain directly and was assured that, even though a lot of the city was without power due to a storm that location was “up and ready to receive. Upon arrival we found that location completely shutdown and was told it had been that way all day. We were forced to make other arrangements in very bad weather and amongst many in the same situation.

Rooms smelled like an dirty locker room. Stains everywhere. Mold in the shower. No hot water.

My first room smelled like mold and I requested another room. I was able to get another room and found brown liquid in the bathtub. I requested a refunded. I was told that I would receive the refund but did not receive it. I was very disappointed in this hotel because It was my go to a few years ago. Alot has changed

The room was a bit musty and clearly had some humidity control issues. There were signs of water damage on the ceiling, and some of the texture was peeling away from the drywall. Shower was not particularly clean, and there was no shampoo or body wash available in the refillable containers on the wall. Bed was comfortable, no bed bugs, breakfast was serviceable.

From the outside the hotel didn’t look all that great. The room was mostly clean and spacious so that made up for it. Although there was visible handprints throughout the room, not sure if those were from past guests or housekeeping. The breakfast was the bare minimum, bacon, eggs, cereal, oatmeal, and toast. It didn’t seem as if anyone was attending the breakfast area to upkeep and refill the food, so no bacon available.

The fire alarm in the middle of the night was heart-stopping. The breakfast was mediocre.

Very clean and the staff was very professional.

- No smoke detector in room - wires hanging out where should be - Dustballs, bits of food, strange hairs on floor and in bathroom - Toilet seat wouldn't stay up. Toilet not tightly bolted to floor so would rise and sink - Shower soap ran out, despite multiple requests at desk and maids, no replacement - Front desk staffed by foreigners, did not understand what a "washcloth" was. Would obtain one, then maids repeatedly removed it - Broken and stained furniture - Sole elevator repeatedly threatened to strand, then broke leaving everyone using stair - Advertised pool and backyard permanently closed. - Windows sealed in room and common areas, all air motionless and stale. - AC unit spewed noxious sour and mildewy air. After several days developed persistent cough and respiratory problems - Angry homeless man got buzzed in the front door, leisurely ate across buffet, loaded food into pockets, staff said and did nothing

The room was poorly lit, the ceilings were stained and peeling. Carpet in the hallways was ripped in several places. AC worked poorly. I would not book here again.

This is my third stay at Brookhollow Spring Hill Suites in Houston. No milk for cereal at 8:30 am. Caulking around tub black. Lukewarm coffee. Molding coming off the wall. Curtains hanging poorly. Breakfast skimpy. Nice front desk workers. Couch upholstery worn out. Rust in the bathtub.
