The Worst Hotel Experience I’ve Ever Had My experience with Hyatt Place Philadelphia/King of Prussia was, without exaggeration, the worst part of my entire wedding planning process. What should have been a simple, straightforward room block turned into weeks of stress, miscommunication, and completely avoidable problems — almost all stemming from the Sales representative, Hannah‑Rose. From the beginning, communication was inconsistent and unprofessional. I originally booked 20 rooms and was told I could easily add more later. When I went to increase the block — exactly as instructed — I was suddenly told I had to fill all 20 rooms first. I spent three days scrambling to get my wedding party and immediate family booked, only to be told afterward that the hotel was now “sold out” and could not add any additional rooms. This directly contradicted what I had been promised. It only got worse from there. They accidentally canceled my mother‑in‑law’s reservation, and I only caught it because I repeatedly followed up for updated lists. When I questioned how this could happen, I was met with a joking, “I wonder whose else I may have accidentally canceled.” Completely unacceptable. In the days leading up to the wedding, multiple guests called in a panic because they were told they didn’t have reservations — even though they were on the list the sales team provided to me. After several back‑and‑forth calls between reservations and sales, things were eventually sorted out, but one guest canceled entirely because of the hassle. This was the last thing I needed while juggling ten other wedding‑week responsibilities. Then came check‑in. My husband and I arrived a day early and were shocked by the condition of the hotel. It was dark, outdated, and dirty. Trash sat in the elevator for days. Chairs were left upside down in the breakfast area, and when I asked if tables could be wiped down, I was handed a rag and spray to do it myself. We were told we would receive a nicer, high‑floor king suite as the bride and groom. Instead, we walked into a room with burn marks on the carpet, broken drawers, a non‑working shower light, and a bathroom vent that didn’t function. It was old, dingy, and absolutely not what was promised. The front desk later informed us that **Hannah‑Rose personally selected that room for us**, which made the situation even more baffling. Meanwhile, my mother — who checked in after us — was given a newly renovated suite with hardwood floors and updated furniture. The inconsistency was infuriating. Other guests had even worse experiences. My sister’s two rooms had water damage and visible mold, which is a serious health concern, especially with a toddler. She had to demand a refund and scramble to find another hotel during a busy PGA weekend. Several other guests canceled or chose not to stay after seeing the conditions. To make matters worse, the hotel advertises a bar — specifically a late‑night bar — which was one of the reasons we chose it for our guests. There was no bar at all. I am not someone with unrealistic expectations. I’ve stayed in everything from luxury hotels to roadside motels during my years of work travel. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had — not just for me, but for many of my guests and other random guest staying as well. I cannot stress this enough: choose any other hotel. The stress, the unprofessionalism, the condition of the rooms, and the complete lack of accountability made this experience an absolute nightmare during what should have been one of the happiest times of my life.

Affordable rooms, great location, everything is near by

No lotion, mouth wash, tooth brush/toothpastes, ice machine has mold

Staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.

We have stayed in other Hyatt Places recently and they were much better maintained. The refrigerator didn’t work, no soap or any other bathroom amenities, there was no hotel tv menu for entertainment, streaming options nor a cable guide to even search for a specific channel and the phone wasn’t even connected to call the front desk to inform them of these issues.
