Garner Hotel Cologne Porz - Airport by IHG

Pretty decent stay. Room was clean, bed comfy, although blanket is kinda short if you are tall :). Breakfast is very good. Connection to downtown Koln is excellent. We used train which goes very often (map is easily understandable even for a foreigner), but there is tram and bus as well. WLAN Internet connection was bad in our room which was at the far end of the building, so we had to go to the lobby to do some work. Overally, very good.

This is a good place to stay as we did: on our way to the airport. Not a place to stay for an extended period, but clean and pleasant for a one night stay.

Great that I was able to check in super late because my flight was delayed and I liked how they were willing to hold my luggage after check out to explore the city. Didn’t like the outdated room and not a single channel available in English. At least not when I was there.

If you're looking for a decent and cheap hotel, near the airport it is the right choice. The tram is 5min walking and the taxi ride to the airport was 20€. Don't expect anything fancy, but it suits its purpose

I like it very much. Nice breakfast with nice view and cool music.

When we first got there we waited until it was time to check in us and another two people had been waiting for hours. Two people who had not been waiting as long as us where allowed to go first to check in which we were not happy about. When the other two people who had been waiting for a long time said anything they were ignored by the staff at the reception. When we first got to the hotel we were put in a room which was very noisy due to construction work. We complained during the night and got moved the next morning. You are provided with a kettle and tea making facilities in your room. The room is clean with cleaners in the morning but I noticed that the bedding was not changed it was just put back on the bed I saw this. The hotel area is not next to any tourist attraction but it is not too far by tram. No where to have lunch or dinner in hotel only breakfast, which we did not pay for so can’t review. Hotel staff seemed to be grumpy when calling reception but somewhere more friendly. Some staff where not helpful in finding tourist attractions. Overall it was a nice hotel and okay stay I would still recommend.

Very convince

Booked for 4 nights at the hotel middle August, our room faced a construction site that ran from 7am until 6pm and was extremely noisy, although I understand there is nothing the hotel could do about this, there was no mention on either Expedia or hotel website informing the traveller. There was also busy main road which never seemed to die down even through the night. 30 plus degree heat and no air con made for very uncomfortable time in the room and sleeping. We had a very early flight and arrived at hotel about 11am only to be told we couldn't book in until 2pm, even when I asked to pay for early check in which was stated on Expedia website I was told no, she was very strict, even when we came back half hour before check in we were still made to wait. Staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. The room however was pleasant enough (albeit lack air con) and cleaned very well every day. My overall view is that I won't be going back there again.

Hotel is currently overlooking a construction site. Nowhere on Expedia do they mention this. I was woken up at just after 6am to the sound of beep beep beep and heavy plant machinery. Not ideal after a long day and late night to bed. The room had no air conditioning and as it was 30 degrees during the day was like a furnace in the evening. When I arrived the room ha been made up but the water was half drunk.
