Tanjong Jara Resort

One of our best vacations and the reason is the hospitality at the resort. The staff is exceptional - Mukundan , Anne , Yanni and the General manger all looked into our special requests. A big thank you to them. My mother is vegetarian with special dietary needs and they went above and beyond to ensure her food and stay was comfortable. The restaurants and the food is very good . Breakfast spread is also great and a great place to spend a few days to relax. A big thank you to the staff who made our visit and stay memorable.

21 stays later over too many years to admit to and we still love TJR. This place is pure magic—made unforgettable by the incredible staff. Such a gentle pace - not to be rushed. Sucimurni, a 30 minute outdoor morning exercise class we love - made even more joyous with the staff participating. Thank you. Thank you to Afiq for a wonderful dance party organised also joined by the lovely joyous staff who could be there. Thank you Maz and Chef Ann, Makunda, Amira, Chris and so many others - you were so caring and attentive to our needs. I wish I could remember all your names - Iman? front reception? Special congratulations management for leading such a fantastic team—.you’ve continued to to build on this truly special resort and more. One small note: we missed the quiet, traditional sweeping of the grounds, now replaced by a noisy leaf blower that slightly disrupts the peaceful breakfast atmosphere. That aside, everything was perfect. The massages? Simply the best. We can’t wait to return (again!).

This resort is a hidden gem on the east coast of Malaysia. Set on a stunning white sandy beach the goes on for miles the resort is friendly, authentic and ypu are invited to do as little or as much as you like. Exceptional food and if you like diving or snorkelling you must go to Tenggol Island! All the staff are incredible but I must mention Chef Anne who is incredible, Mukunda who is fantastic and can’t do enough for you and dive master Syafiq who is amazing.

Such an amazing gem of a hotel! The food was incredible - make sure you try the butter prawns. Everyone who works here is so happy and friendly and chatty, especially Chef Anne! The batik painting class was really fun, the massage at the spa was so good. The big highlight of our stay was the diving trip, we saw turtles and a big octopus. Felt well looked after by our dive master Syafiq, and lovely boat crew: Haiqal and Irwan! Thank you Tanjong Jara can’t wait to come back

We had an amazing stay at Tanjong Jara Resort, we recommend! The hotel is beautiful, the view on the beach is stunning, everybody there is very nice. The rooms are very confortable and the restaurant is delicious. Thank you again!

Absolutely value for money, although the rooms aren‘t as spacious as they look in the photographs. some of the staff are very well trained, others not so. the surrounding is beautiful with it’s tens of kms of beach. BUT there is one big BUT: don‘t come here if you want to swim in the sea in the monsoon season between November and Mid-March! they had a few fatal incidents on this coast recently because of strong currents and undercurrents, a phenomenon which appears every year with the monsoon. However nobody warns you at the time when you book. we left after 2 nights because of this. the day we were there was agreeable. The hotel management was understanding and quite helpful. May we add that although having reserved thru booking.com BOOKING.COM WAS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL AND MOST UNWILLING TO UNDERSTAND OR PUT IN A WORD!

​Our stay was framed by a wonderful setting, but it was the amazing staff service that truly stood out. From the moment we arrived at the concierge and reception, through to the attentive service at the pool, we felt incredibly well looked after. A special shout-out to Amira and Siti at the front desk for their warm welcome and to Chef Anne for her wonderful hospitality. ​The food overall was good, though there is room for a slight adjustment regarding the Yakiniku and Steamboat options. ​Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

We returned home a week ago from Tanjong Jara Resort and are already missing the wonderful hospitality we found there. My husband and I were made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived until we sadly had to leave this lovely place. We had an Anjung room with direct views out across the lawns to the sea. The hotel, extensive grounds and swimming pools are kept in pristine condition. We mainly ate in Di Atas Sungei as the choice of meals was extensive. Chef Ann was very informative about the menu and suggested alternative combinations of ingredients. Each dish is available in either a small or large portion. The food was always varied, good value and although we were at the resort for 13 days, we looked forward to dinner every evening. We also ate at Nelayan twice, which has a lovely setting by the sea. We would like to thank all the staff at the resort. Although I am mentioning some by name, it doesn’t detract from any of the employees as everybody without fail was friendly and helpful. They are the reason this resort is very special. A special thanks to the wonderful Maz who made our stay so memorable, to Ellie, Chef Ann, Mukunda (M.K), Yanna and Arun from Di Atlas Sungei. Amira ‘Z’, Liaison Manager, for all her concern and help and a special thanks to Sirajul, pool attendant who puts in 100% every day. I needed a visit to a pharmacy one day and the hotel manager, Mr Ong Hend Ley and Amira, insisted I use the hotel car and driver to take me, wait and bring me back. Such thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. We first visited Tanjong Jara 37 years ago, now expanded but still retaining the Malay charm we remembered. We have stayed in other YTL hotels, including Pangkor Laut resort where Mr Ong was previously. It was good to see him here bringing his expertise to Tanjong Jara. He is genuinely interested in his guests and he makes time to chat to as many as possible each day. It is monsoon season now so we were unable to swim in the sea. However, the pools are lovely and we swam every day. The adult pool is a quiet retreat if the main pool is busy. There are plenty of activities at the resort to keep busy, including a well equipped games room which would appeal to children and teenagers. Outdoor pursuits include tennis, jungle walks, market visits and cookery lessons and craft activities. We would love to return here one day.

Our stay at Tanjong Jara Resort was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Every detail of the property is meticulously maintained, creating a relaxing and luxurious atmosphere. The staff were outstanding — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. From the moment we arrived, they ensured that every aspect of our stay was seamless. The reception team, especially Amira, went above and beyond to make everything smooth and effortless, making us feel completely welcome. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations. It was a truly memorable experience, and we would return without hesitation. Highly recommended!
