Best Western Kilmarnock Hotel

Room not clean. Tears in wallpaper in hallways. Quality of breakfast has declined since I last stayed here. Can easily hear others. Staff is nice and tries to be helpful. Location is convenient.

Only house keeping on Wednesdays. Staff acted like everyone was an inconvenience

I can not find one good thing to say about this location. This was a terrible stay. When we first arrived in our room and went into the bathroom, we noted what appeared to be a pubic hair in the bathroom sink. The carpet in the room was stained in a couple of places. The room smelled like marijuana. We decided to make the best of a bad situation and just go to bed as it was already late. When we went to the "free complimentary breakfast", it was a sad situation there. It was advertised as available from 6:30 to 9:30 am. At 8 am, there was barely anything out. There were a few eggs and pieces of sausage...no bread for toast or anything of the sort. We found it to be a very poor excuse for a complimentary breakfast and opted to find somewhere else to eat. The final straw was when we were ready to depart from our room, my friend opened the bedside table looking for some tissues and there was an empty tampon box and a bunch of "trash". Upon checkout I asked for a manager and was told that a manager would be in at 9am. My phone number was left for this manager to call me and as of 6pm the same day, I am yet to receive a call back. I am very disappointed in this hotel. I recently purchased property near this place and was hoping to be able to offer it to out of town guests, but that will NEVER happen. Stay away from this Best Western!!

The hotel room itself was clean enough although it was clear the floor had not been fully vacuumed from the debris we found. We did not have any towels when we arrived and had to ask the front desk for them. The person checking us in was helpful but the rest of the staff barely acknowledged us unless we spoke to them first. The property along the edge of the parking lot was riddled with trash and it would be so easy to give a better impression just by picking up this trash. The gym has not been cleaned in weeks judging by the cobwebs under tables. The air conditioning unit did not work as expected and it was very warm in the gym. There were not any clean water cups although there were a few dirty ones. I did not see a trash can. No idea if the yoga mats are ever sanitized and there were no wipes or spray for me to do this myself. The hotel smelled like musty old smoke. They were in the process of replacing carpet on the second floor so perhaps that will help. The breakfast eggs were good but the sausage (served both days of my stay) was boiled/poached and not very good. I could not find any milk for cereal. The apples were old and bruised. I did not see any batter for waffles. Not enough plates. Plenty of salt packets but not pepper. Juice was a juice flavored drink. Disappointing breakfast.

The room was decent, however the second floor was full of the smell of pot! Some of the room were being worked on and started at 0800. The breakfast was horrible and the coffee machine and juice machine did not work. Very disappointing.

The property is in abysmal condition. That's a shame because the Best Western is one of 2 hotels in town. The other is a higher end property so the BW offers a more reasonable price point. The entire property needs to be renovated. Let's start with the good: the staff is efficient and friendly. They are doing the best they can under the conditions the hotel owners give them. Now, the reality. The carpet in the rooms are FILTHY. I made the mistake of walking barefoot. The rug was sticky, literally sticky. Disgusting. The breakfast was largely inedible. The eggs had so much water in them, they looked completely uninviting and tasted awful. The poppyseed muffins were old and crusty. The bagels were hard. There was cereal, but no milk. Again, the staff is doing the best it can.

The beds are comfy, I had an enjoyable stay for my overnight needs. I would recommend it anyone passing by. The coffee in the morning as great. The gym was functional, did have the basics needs for a good work out. I did not get a chance to try their breakfast as I left in the very early AM hours.
