Bournemouth East Cliff Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by BW

Not great, but ok for price at peak time. Mixed feelings. We had a Large family room, but it was not very clean and we had issues with hot water. Parking £35 which seemed excessive. Nice you can use the pool next door and great location. We left an item in the room which we were told wasn’t there (even though the room had been “cleaned” and we knew exactly where it was). We then had call the next day saying they had found it and we could pay for them to post it back to us, which was a little annoying.

Misleading photographs no pool, tired & rundown, dirty room only café style breakfast no dinner at this hotel. Best Western it certainly is not only western what an embarrassment to the company.

10/10 great location, rooms are clean and spacious. For the price we paid it's excellent value for money. Close to the beach and restaurants. Pool, sauna and breakfast was good too 😁 Bharath was very nice to us, he gave us anything we needed and was always there to help us and advice us on things to do throughout our stay! We will definitely come back 😁

A very shabby exterior and swimming closed in a very sorry state,extortionate car parking charges, we could have parked much cheaper on the road 3 days for £21 ,the hotel quoted £40. Check in at 4pm and not before ! Our room was OK, the view over once again a very shabby exterior, the shower over bath was quite difficult to get into. The addition of a fan was very welcome, dark furniture, well past it's prime.dining room vast and soulless,breakfast on offer was OK.

The staff offered a very inefficient and slow service.

No internet, tv remote didn't work,room was hot windows open six inches, The toilet was,try and sit on it,absolutely joke.car park £20 ive had better stays in truck stops and cheaper and thats with the truck .£270 FOR 2NIGHT NOT EVEN BREAKFAST UNBELIEVABLE

I won’t be staying here again , the rooms are filthy the staff are not very friendly or helpful I couldn’t even begin to tell you how dirty the bathroom was the dust and dirt and cobwebs just awful, furniture falling apart on its last legs bathroom dated and dirty carpets stained curtains caked in dust they gave us a cheap tower fan in the middle of summer it was just terrible

On the one hand the East Cliff hotel is fine. However, this very much depends on what you're expecting. If you're expecting the same standard as the Carlton hotel next door, you'll be sadly disappointed. It's not quite as shown in the pictures. Although it does have some nice points, its best not to get too excited before you arrive. Lower your expectations a little though and all may be well. Pros The hotel's location, overlooking the sea front near to the pier is fantastic. The hotel's staff, in the main (see below) are very nice & extremely helpful, especially the man who checked us in and the people at breakfast. Breakfast itself is very good with a wide variety of choice, hot & cold. The price is good considering we booked for early August. But see below re. parking. The bed was extremely comfortable and in the main, the room was clean & tidy. See below. Cons The hotel was clearly grand a long time ago. Today, it appears to be an annex to the Carlton next door, with which it seems to share a lot of both facilities and staff. In more recent years, it has aged and the bedroom we stayed in, and the breakfast room were very dated. This included peeling paint, stained and dirty carpets, marked chairs in the bedroom, tired grout in the bathroom etc. The outside of the building, to look at, was horrendous and not inviting at all. Basically it needed a good re-model/decorate. Strangely for a hotel, the car park is in fact a public car park, charged at £20/day! This wasn't clear until after we booked. What's worse, the car park itself is not secure, there don't appear to be many cameras and car alarms seem to go off most nights. The hotel itself has few facilities - it does have a pool but its closed and probably has been for a number of years judging by the colour. You can use the Carlton's facilities next door but for some that may not be so convenient. The TV (freeview) didn't work at all on day 1 and only partially on day 2. We reported this and after a further day, the maintenance man left a message in the room indicating that BBC1 was working but with no sound (!) and the other main 4 channels were OK. According to him, there were only 5 channels, but in fact, as one would expect, there were many other freeview (digital) channels, all of which worked intermittently. There is not an option to retune the TV, which almost certainly would have solved it. Interestingly, BBC1 on the TV in the lobby worked perfectly and appeared to have a good signal, unlike ours! You are given the option of a free drink if you forgo room service. There's also a sign to hang on the door if you wish the room to be cleaned. We didn't opt for the free drink and on one occasion we hung the sign on the door. When we returned later that day, the sign had in fact been removed, the cups had been cleaned but nothing else had been done! Towels remained wet in the bath, the bathroom was as we left it, the floor hadn't been cleaned and the bed linen not changed. We should have opted for the free drink instead, as we had to put up with sandy bed linen for another 2 nights! In the mornings we chose to do a couple of hours work in the bar/lobby. Due to the limited plug sockets, we were forced to use a (nice) table in one corner by the fire exit. This lead to the veranda which guests appeared to use for smoking. The main access to this area should have been by the bar/reception (it's shared between to two functions). However, the receptionist didn't seem to want the door by the bar used and even when we suggested she use this instead of us having to keep opening/closing the fire exit for all guests accessing the outside, we were told that her papers would likely blow away if she used this. So as guests, we seemed to be seconded to the staff and expected to man the door. In the main the staff here are fantastic; but as a guest I wasn't expecting to do their job, which in this case we were. The towel rail in the bathroom didn't work. Overall this is a hotel with seemingly huge potential but little in the way of fanfare today. If you want somewhere cheaper to stay in a great location but you'll be out as lot of the time, this may well work. If however, you're expecting a luxurious experience, maybe pop along the road. There seem to be a number of nice hotels nearby - and they have their own car park!

Check in was slow and limited options for food. Most annoying was told parking was available at the premises and on check in advised parking was managed by local council and cost £20 to park. Unimpressed.
