Occidental Punta Cana - All Inclusive

Absolutely beautiful end to end. Great food, friendly staff, A super stunning beach. Went with 4 other friends and we had the time of our lives.

No good experience to this resort I never booked again water smelling so bad to the shower and no hot water

Occidental Punta Cana (regular level — NOT royal level) - 3 out of 5 stars. Pros - The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful.  Lots of workers brooming the sand off the walkways, trimming the bushes, mowing the lawn. - The rooms and public areas were very clean and well maintained. No dirty wet bathroom floors and always plenty of toilet paper, soap and hand paper towels in the public bathrooms - The beach is very wide and beautiful. No erosion.  And no seaweed when we were there (Feb 2026). - Very easy to make reservations for the a la carte restaurants at the booking desk. Never had issues with availability and preferred time, etc. - Steakhouse and Mexican à la carte restaurants were our favorite. We did not try the Oriental and we did not love the Italian nor the Seafood. - The beach chairs were in very good shape (not soft lumpy hammocks)  - There are 3 pools for regular level guests. 1 very busy and big pool close to the main lobby, 1 medium-size one by the beach restaurant that does get a bit of animation around noon, and 1 small-size very quiet one  Cons - Not enough beach chairs!  All the beach chairs are quickly taken at the beach and at the main big pool.  There were about just a dozen or so chairs at the medium and the small size pool.  We found 2 empty chairs at the beach one morning and dragged them to the medium size pool and kept reserving those chairs early in the morning to make sure we had somewhere to sit (the beach was very windy) - Very little shade on the beach and by the pools. There are no palapas anywhere. Only a few palm trees to provide natural shade on the beach.  - Water outages happened 3 times (that we know of) while we vacationed there (over 10 days). Twice during the day and once at night. No toilet flushing and no hand-washing possible during those 15-20 min. Outages.  We heard that the previous week, there was a 6-hour power outage and water outage on a Saturday. Not good!!! - The food at the buffet was okay. I wasn't starving but you really had to look to find protein that wasn't some sort of goulache sauce weird meat - In the room, the pillows really sucked (long skinny and flat pillows with a slight odour of moisture) and the water pressure in the shower was very weak. Other than that, the room was totally fine and everything worked well.

This my 2nd time in DR 🇩🇴 and Sasa is the best omelette cook there !! He is always friendly and has great skills on that grill. He’s in the buffet every morning he’s a joy to see .

Not the best resort we have ever stayed at, but it was decent. Most people were friendly, it was clean, beach and pools were lovely (but hard to find shade), food variety was good, but the quality was mediocre. A lot more options for me to eat, where as my husband who is vegetarian was much more limited and lacking protein (but still thankful they had veggie options!) You gotta get up early if you want some lounge chairs and get fresh towels before later afternoon or you’ll be out of luck. Highly recommend bringing your own shade umbrellas, cus it gets hot if you’re out there all day. There were a lot of activities throughout the day if you wanted to participate. Drinks were tasty and although we didn’t venture out, the location was great. (On the beach but Close to a main drag)

We had the best time ever here but most of our time was spent at the beach bar with the best bartenders ever!! They made us the best espresso martini ever (No Baileys).

Pamela was the best bartender ever and Samuel too. And the best espresso martini. Best beach bar ever. if you'd like to sit on the beach, they serve your drinks. It's nice and warm. Friendliest bartender best service.

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and well maintained. Everything met or exceeded my expectations, from the service to the facilities. The only downside was the food, which was just average and didn’t quite match the high standard of the rest of the experience. Still, I would recommend this hotel and would consider staying here again

So, if you have stayed previously at a four or five star resort in the DR, you would know this is definitely not a five star. That is the reality. We arrived in the morning with friends. We asked for rooms beside each other then and had emailed this request previously. Only one room was ready. The other would be ready for 3:00. We were given the room number, and lots of assurances. At 3:00 we were told the room was given away. The Manager and his pretty sidekick at the front desk just stonewall you with blank stares, and behaved like it was all out of their control. If you go to this resort, bring a sense of humour. Look at its charms, as some of the flip sides can be discouraging. Large room with nice balconies, beautiful beach and excellent swimming in the ocean. It’s lovely sitting outside in the evening in the common area, playing cards and talking. Good pizza from the take out with the stone oven, plants and pathways well maintained. Many nice service people. Some areas could receive updated and more effective methods in their training. Three of us experienced gastronomic issues, two of us are still having effects after our return home.

Construction in the other room for two days, no warning before the work started. No water for a whole day. Was served raw meat multiple times. Most staff doesn’t speak English…
