"Go see Jorge for drinks!"

This place is amazing! There is so much to do and the food is great. The events they have at night are fun and interactive and the beach is beautiful. If you want a drink, go see Jorge at Las Cayenas Bar! He is the best and will make you very tasty drinks! Very warm and welcoming, 10/10

"Exciting"

"Good hotel. Try fish/seafood restaurant"

Good hotel not too big. Rooms are large and clean. Fridge is replenished every day with beers, water and cola. The seafood restaurant is very good and the staff/service is excellent. Good ambiance!

"Ok but not returning"

Beach is nice. Food ok although 3 people in our family got stomach bug, which gave us concerned about quality of food, bedridden for 3 days Service is terrible, not one staff could speak English, rooms ok. Activity schedule not updated if you like to partake. Shopping in resort is no cash no cc goes on room bill. Be prepared to dispute at counter. No a/c and our room had a strong sewage smell. Would not return here. Have been to Cuba and Dominican so know what to expect. Give it a 2star

"Beach. Food drinks"

We spent a wonderful week with another couple. The royal level is amazing. They made sure our rooms were close and we had everything we could possibly need. The beach is perfect and the bar was great Sayonara Mateo and Enrique Reyes were superb. They learned our routines in a day and we never had to ask they just know what you want. The beloved restaurant was top notch. The team Hipolito Perez Mariana Sano Wendy Pena made sure every meal was inviting and the food was excellent. We had a perfect relaxing vacation.

"Disappointing Hotel Experience"

Extremely disappointing stay with zero accountability from management. Our first night, the AC in our room did not work. I was traveling with a child who has seizures triggered by overheating, and my child woke up in night sweats due to the heat. The next morning, when maintenance attempted to fix the AC, the room flooded with water (photos available). There were warning signs from the start—towels already on the floor when we checked in, explained away as “last-minute cleaning.” After multiple failed repair attempts, we were forced to change rooms three times. Each time, staff failed to confirm the room was functional before moving us. We were told to wait for hours while they handled our luggage and keys, which caused us to miss a large portion of a wedding we were attending. We didn’t receive a working room until 1 AM. Management later refused any refund, falsely claiming we “used amenities.” We were waiting in broken rooms with no AC. I never requested a full refund—only compensation for at least one night due to these conditions. With each room change, we were moved farther away from the wedding area, making us feel isolated and like a nuisance rather than guests. This experience showed a complete lack of care, professionalism, and responsibility. I would not recommend staying here, especially if you are traveling with children or have health concerns.

"Needs a lot of improvement"

The hotel has a great pool area and that’s it. Needs a lot of improvement specially with staff service. Espumante was always running out and staff was not friendly when asked about it. Food was OK, make sure to book the restaurants.

"Terrible food and customer service."

This is the first time I have stayed at an all inclusive resort, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from the food quality. My boyfriend, my dad, and I all agreed it was the worst food we have ever had to eat for 2 days straight. To give a better idea - the first meal we had OUTSIDE the resort somewhere else in DR was at a random local bar/restaurant and the food tasted soooo good to us after eating at Occidental for two days. Almost like our “first meal out of prison”. There was also a terrible customer service experience where one of the front desk staff bold faced lied to us. Doesn’t matter, don’t come here if you want to eat food that is edible.

"Staff makes you feel like family"

We are members of the Occidental Vacation Club and have been so for many years. This is our home base club where we are Grand/Royal level members. We have a one bedroom that also has a sitting area and a large balcony. The room is quiet large and well furnished with a very comfortable bed. The main reason for this review is to single out the excellent service we have always received from the Royal Club Team Members. These team members include: Hipolito, Wendy, Sondro, Fermin, Edileny, Rosa and Madeleine. All have consistently provided Excellent service and have made us feel like family. We usually vacation there during my wife’s birthday and stay about two weeks. We always look forward to this visit.
