The Ashley Hotel

The hotel is past its prime and basic but provides a cheap alternative to most of the others in the area. It was about what I expected for the price. I would be happy to stay there again when working in the area, I would not take my family there on holiday.

Enjoyable stay, friendly staff.

the room was freezing cold with no heating. The reception staff were not the most pleasant and they did not know simple useful information. The hotel itself was like something out of Faulty Towers. Breakfast was poor too. I paid extra for late check out at 1pm but another member of staff called and said we had missed the check out by 1 hour I had to tell this member of staff that I had paid extra for late check out so obviously no communication between staff members. Also the shower head come out of the holder while in the shower causing a bruise on my arm.

Dirty, unfriendly staff, just awful. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Not the best place, but nice staff...

We booked two rooms, on check in we were given the rooms but on different floors. It took 20 minutes to check in as the guy could not use the checking in system, he had to hunt for the keys. All carpets filthy starting from the lobby to the rooms. My daughters hallway on floor one stank of cigarette smoke. Can’t begin to talk about the furnishings...could not lay my head on the pillows as so old and stained....could continue but won’t. Would not ever stay again, definitely would not recommend

Staff were friendly and the hotel was as you would expect for the price. Some of the previous reviews were perhaps a little harsh because I found my room to be clean, the shower was good and the TV worked. Yes, the décor is in need of attention and the furniture/fittings are old and damaged, but it does what it says.

Very difficult to find, signage not illuminated and drove past it 3 times. On checking in they couldn't find the booking, took over 30 minutes to check in, then gave me a room which when I opened the door was not yet made up! Had to go back to reception and be allocated another room. Signage inside needs updating too - arrived in the evening and ideally wanted some food, said they don't do that now but posters said they did.......confusing, had to walk to local supermarket for a sandwich. Breakfast was good though. Very basic accommodation but then I did get a bargain price on Hotels.com for the room

I’m still speechless. This hotel is a joke. The furniture is dated and falling apart. It’s dirty and smells. Their was no toilet paper in the bathroom, the shower leaked and went from hot to cold. I found somewhere else to stay and escaped before I caught something. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and hostels but this has to be the worst! It’s so bad it’s funny.

Filthy carpets, shower curtain, walls. Hole in the door. Supposed to be 24 hour concierge yet we were left outside ringing the bell for half an hour them were laughed at by staff after being left in.
