Medina Palms

Very clean, extremely friendly staff.

This hotel was wonderful. The pools were always clean and the infinity pool at the end was beautiful. The staff & service were exceptional. They were accomodating and were very friendly. They decorated our suite with beautiful flowers for a birthday that was being celebrated. It was such a lovely surprise and there was a lot of effort put into it. The breakfast was always good with many options to choose from at the buffet. You could also order off the menu at any time.

We were dissappointed at all the seaweed that had accumulated on the beach. It didn't make it inviting to go down to the water. The only other disappointing factor was the pizza oven was not working and needed to be repaired. We had hoped that it would have been back up and running so we could have tried the pizza.

Excellent location and facilities, but far from 5 star service. They have damn rules like closing the pool at 6pm! Staff not proactive in dealing with large groups. We had to continuously ask them to do simple things like combining tables to fit the group. They close everything on a strict damn schedule. They kicked us out of the dinner area, because they were closing dining area. We moved the bar and they also stopped serving drinks early in the night. It’s especially absurd because we were a big group and wanted to actually spend more. Never going back.

I enjoyed my stay at the Medina Palms. It is a gorgeous resort with an Arab-inspired design. There are quite a few stairs for getting around and, in June, the beach is full of seaweed. However, the pools at the resort are lovely and the overall design of the hotel is very interesting. The food was pretty good.

The staff: Peter, Gideon, Juma and Patrick at reception were courteous, fulfilled all our wishes and communicated very well with the relevant departments. We immediately felt at home. As I am vegan, it is a bit difficult for me here in Kenya to always choose something from the menu. The waiter Dena was very courteous, understanding, helpful and very knowledgeable. He went through the menu with me every day and always gave me very good advice so that the chef could cook it. Employees like him should be encouraged and appreciated more. Waiter Robert always gave us something to laugh about at the bar and the drinks were very good. No headaches the next day, he was a pleasure to work with. Many thanks to Sofia from the breakfast service, she always had a smile on her face and sweetened our day so we could start the day well. Margaret's pancakes are a must at Medina Palms, they are delicious. Mercy, our housekeeping queen. She wowed us every day with new room decorations Always very lovingly done now I can say I have always slept on cloud nine at Medina Palms. Thank you, Queen Mercy. An appeal to the management of Medina Palms staff to show more encouragement and appreciation the facilities and location are not worth 5 stars for me. The heart of Medina Palms is the staff. Wenig Vegan/ vegetarische Auswahl beim Frühstück .

As it was low season it was quite dead and deserted! The beach area was quite dirty contrary to the photos on booking! There were no beach beds or umbrellas! Over all I wish we were informed that it was low season and everything would be closed including restaurants around watamu as well as majority of the excursions. I definitely don’t think it was worth the money
