"Fantastic hotel"

10.0

I am currently staying at the hotel with my mum, we are on our third week and we cant fault the hotel at all. We were slightly apprehensive prior to coming as the hotel has a lot of bad reviews but we have had nothing to worry about, it doesnt deserve the bad reviews it gets. The hotel grounds are amazing, it feels like you are in the middle of a rain forest, i've had my room cleaned everyday and the cleaners are doing a great job. Ive received tea and coffee as well as water in my room everyday and fresh towells when needed. There are various outdoor pools which are lovely and relaxing and tend to be empty of people. So we have the pools to ourselves most of the time. Breakfast is very nice, they give you an option of freshly cooked eggs with your prefernece of how well done you want it and how you like your eggs. You get freshly cooked omelettes too. The buffet has a wide variety of international cusine. Special touch while eating breakfast is listening to a man playing the piano in the mornings. We have been to various countrys around the world and couldnt fault this hotel. We will definitely be returning.

Disappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend If you’re looking for a lively, welcoming atmosphere, this is not the place. Throughout my entire week, I encountered only a handful of other guests, leaving the hotel feeling eerily empty, quiet, and devoid of energy. The location was particularly inconvenient. Situated high in the hills, it’s isolated with no footpaths nearby, making walking to places like Bangla Road — as some reviews suggested — impossible. In reality, you will need to arrange transport for every trip, and the drive is much longer than advertised, especially with traffic. The property itself is large and confusing to navigate, with no elevators, countless stairs, and winding pathways. At times, it felt more like wandering through a deserted complex than staying at a resort. The breakfast offering was disappointing. Despite being promoted as a buffet, it consisted of a limited selection: a few pastries, some eggs, and a small amount of fruit. Hot dishes often appeared cold and unappetizing, and the dining area was consistently empty, adding to the sense of isolation. As for the pools, they were also empty — and while that might initially seem appealing, the visible broken floorboards around the area raised serious safety concerns. Overall, I would recommend researching other options if you’re seeking a more comfortable and enjoyable stay.

"Very Isolated, Eerily Quiet, Not as Advertised"

4.0

I stayed at Wyndham Sea Pearl Resort for one week, and honestly, it was one of the eeriest experiences I’ve had. The resort was so empty and quiet that it felt like being in The Shining. I probably saw no more than four other guests during my entire stay, making it feel very lonely and spooky. Location: The resort is up in the hills, very far from everything. There is no footpath outside the resort, so walking to Bangla Road or Patong Beach is simply not possible. Contrary to some Tripadvisor reviews, it is NOT a "3-minute drive" — it takes around 30 minutes each way by taxi, so be prepared to spend extra money every time you want to leave or come back. Resort Layout: This place is massive — almost like a maze. It's hilly, there are no elevators, and just getting from your room to breakfast is a decent walk. When I arrived late at night, around 11 pm, a staff member thankfully escorted me to my room, but the walk was long, dark, and full of stairs and zigzag paths. I almost got lost the next morning trying to find my way back to reception. Breakfast: If you don't prepay for breakfast, expect to pay BT530 per day. The buffet is very basic: toast, pastries, eggs, fruit — and honestly, the hot dishes looked cold and unappetizing. Most mornings, I ate alone or with one other guest, which only added to the lonely, low-energy atmosphere. Facilities: There are a few pools, and while I basically had the pool to myself every day (which was a plus), some areas could definitely use maintenance. Broken floorboards around the pool decks were noticeable, so be cautious when walking barefoot. There’s no real hotel bar, no vibe, and once it gets dark, there is nothing to do onsite except stay in your room or book a taxi to go elsewhere. Room: I had a King Suite with a hot tub. It worked for three days and then broke down. A few mornings I was woken early by workers shoveling leaves and branches off the roof around 8 AM — not ideal if you’re hoping for a sleep-in. Other issues: A BT4000 deposit is required at check-in. Reception incorrectly charged my room service payment, freezing more money from my account. I recommend paying cash instead of card to avoid a similar issue (they told me it would take 2–4 weeks to refund). Power outages happened a few times, causing the air con and lights to cut out — very uncomfortable when you’re relying on AC in the heat. Final thoughts: Before booking, I suggest looking carefully at Google Maps and the satellite view to really understand how isolated this resort is. I had hoped to enjoy some downtime hanging by a bar or restaurant onsite when I wasn’t exploring, but unfortunately, that wasn’t an option here. Sadly, I can't recommend this hotel unless you’re specifically looking for a very quiet, isolated getaway with no energy or nightlife around. Most places you could go to the hotel bar area and hang out, but not here because it does not exist

"Terrible 5-Star Hotel with Uneducated Staffs"

2.0

I compared all the Wyndhams in Phuket and chose to stay here because this hotel looked high standard. However, when I actually stayed there, I had a terrible experience with extremely poor service. The only good thing was the lobby staff, who created a warm and welcoming environment. But the rest? Absolutely unacceptable. I needed a hairdryer, shampoo, and soap, so I called reception. The phone signal was terrible, so I could barely hear them, and they couldn’t hear me either. Because of this, they told me they would send a housekeeping staff to my room. I waited 15 minutes—no one came. 30 minutes—still no one. 45 minutes—nothing. 55 minutes later, finally, a housekeeping staff arrived. And guess what? They didn’t understand what "shampoo" was. A housekeeping staff in a five-star hotel had zero knowledge of basic toiletries. Then, they called another staff member to help—and she also didn’t know what shampoo was. How do they even work in housekeeping if they don’t know the basics? And then the restaurant—a complete disaster. The waitstaff couldn’t even take orders properly. They didn’t know what Tabasco was. I ordered a club sandwich without tomato, but they didn’t understand. I clearly said "no tomato," yet they just stared at me, completely lost. Then, instead of figuring it out, the waitress pulled out her phone and made me speak into Google Translate just to place a simple order. This is a five-star hotel with a zero-star standard. I left exhausted, frustrated, and completely disappointed. This was my first and last time at Wyndham Sea Pearl. If management doesn’t properly train the staff, especially in basic English and service skills, this hotel will become the worst Wyndham properties in Phuket. I will never stay here again. Avoid this place unless you want to pay for frustration.

This is a BIG resort. It's also showing its age in some ways. The two of those factors I think are why some reviews are negative. The property is well maintained, and the staff is helpful but spread thin by the size of the resort.

"Definetely not 5 star!"

4.0

This holiday complex has been build in a really nice way and I'm sure it looked great when it was new. It's sad to see that it is not maintained properly, it's very run down and not clean, it could be an amazing 5 start hotel. The housekeeping does only the bare minimum, nothing was clean, including the bathroom ( I ended up cleaning it myself ) and if you ask for anything either you don't get it or you have to wait for very long time. The tv wasn't working, the AC was very loud. The room upstairs had a jaquzzi on the balcony, the circulation pump was very loud that we had to listen all the time. As the hotel is far from the beach many guests used scooters to get back to the hotel. That was going on all night. Because of all the noise we were not able to get a proper sleep while we stayed there. I booked this hotel for this particular reason, I wanted to stay away from the busy part of the city so I was hoping for a good night sleep but unfortunately it didn't happen. There were only 2 twin beds in the room while we booked it for 3 people. That was a surprise. They were relatively big so our child was able to sleep with one of us. We had to ask extra towels for her that we didn't get so we had to ask for them several times. We found the breakfast options very limited. The staff was extremely nice. With all of these negative experience I have to say that they made our stay more enjoyable....and bearable. The operational side of the hotel service is very disappointing. Especially the housekeeping and the maintenance.

The initial check in process was very chaotic and not very welcoming Receptionist was yelling at a difficult guest. The overall cleanliness was of a very poor standard, eg stains on the bedsheets. The accommodation is best suited to the young crowd. The nights were very loud and catching a good nights sleep was difficult with the road noise of all the bikes pulling in from a long night out.

Our stay started off a little rocky with the 2 rooms we requested not being available. Were looking for privacy hence the two separate rooms for 3 travelers. They said it would be ready the next day. It wasn't. We had packed all our belongings just to have to unpack again. Twice we did this. Finally they gor us our rooms. One room was ok. Second room wasnt stocked properly but not the end of the world. Plunge pool was less than desirable and clearly hadnt been cleaned. Didnt even bother to mention to staff at that point. For the price we paid not the greatest value. The plus side.......Great location close to town if you grab a taxi or a Grab. Grounds are nice along with the common pools. Food / Coffee /Beer overpriced but most hotels are as well.
