"50th Anniversary"

10.0

Wonderful beach, well maintained property, well provided rooms and amenities, food was great, almost every staff member we spoke and dealt with was awesome , always one having a bad day! It's a bit of a trip getting to the resort from the airport so take along some patience and sit back and relax. Queen 'B' on JJ's Speed Boat tour was so much fun and the Sunset Cruise was great, we caught a good one. We may well return, and that's not something we often say. Had a great Anniversary trip.

"Stunning Location, Mixed Execution: A Candid Review for First-Time Sandals Visitors"

6.0

My husband and I recently spent our wedding anniversary at Sandals Grande St. Lucian. This was our first time at a Sandals resort, and we wanted to share an honest perspective that will be useful for others, especially those visiting Sandals or St. Lucia for the first time. While the location and the people of St. Lucia are beautiful, the overall experience did not live up to the high expectations portrayed on the Sandals website. Location & Travel The views from this resort are genuinely stunning, and we loved the convenient access to the nearby UNESCO park for hiking. However, prospective guests must be fully prepared for the travel logistics on the island. Airport Transfer: The drive from the airport to the resort took us nearly two hours due to heavy, constant traffic (a common issue noted by locals). The roads are very winding and hilly. Be warned: if you are prone to car sickness, the included shuttle transfer will be challenging. Alternative Transport: We chose the water ferry for our return trip, which is faster (about 1 hour) but is not included and can be extremely rough. We encountered 10-foot seas for most of the ride. We found ourselves choosing the lesser of two uncomfortable evils for transport. Getting Around: While the "Stay and Play" amenity is offered, we were told by staff that traffic could make a one-way trip to the furthest resort (La Toc) take two hours, making it impractical for quick visits. Guests should plan to stay on-site due to the island's traffic. Accommodations (Partial Ocean/Tropical View) The resort common areas match the pictures, but our specific room was a major disappointment and fell short of the high standards we expected. View Discrepancy: Our "Partial Ocean/Tropical Gardens" view room description and photos led us to expect some view of the water. Instead, our view was completely blocked by trees and looked directly onto one of the open-air spa massage rooms (see attached photo). Loss of Privacy: This made our balcony unusable, as we felt uncomfortable being in a position to constantly view guests getting massaged. Sandals needs to urgently address this with screens for the spa rooms and ensure greater accuracy in their room descriptions. Vibe Check: If you are seeking rest and relaxation, please note that this specific resort is heavily geared towards entertainment. The main pool features a daily DJ starting around 11:30 AM followed by loud pool games until the pool closes. The sound carries across the entire property, making it nearly impossible to find a quiet spot to read or listen to the ocean. Food & Beverage Access Our main frustration throughout the stay was the unexpected difficulty in simply getting a meal at an all-inclusive resort. Reservation Challenges: Several of the specialty restaurants require reservations, which must be made on-site via the Reservation Desk (closes at 5 PM). Since we arrived late, we were unable to make reservations and had to wait three hours for dinner our first night. They also lack a buzzer system, forcing guests to wait by the restaurant. System Issues: I tried the next day but was told their system was down (likely related to the recent hurricane impacts in Jamaica, which they acknowledged). I was only able to secure reservations for two nights, both after 8:00 PM. High Demand / Low Capacity: Non-reservation restaurants filled up quickly and had long wait times due to the sheer number of guests (this hotel has 300+ rooms). Crucially, there is no large, always-open cafeteria or buffet option to rely on. We struggled on multiple evenings to find food easily. Menu Inconsistencies: When we did get to a restaurant, they were frequently out of ingredients or specific dishes. While the food quality was "okay" (as expected for all-inclusive), the lack of guaranteed access was a constant inconvenience. Final Thoughts We appreciate the staff working hard, especially given any potential operational impacts from hurricane Melissa in Jamacia (Sandals is a Jamaican owned / based company). However, it is clear that this particular Sandals property is prioritizing quantity (serving the most guests) over quality (guest experience) and is not adequately staffed or organized to handle the high volume. As first-time Sandals guests, we felt that the resort's focus on selling "premium quality" (e.g., butler upgrades) did not translate into a valued experience for the general guest. If you are looking for rest, relaxation, and a quality-focused dining experience, we would suggest exploring other options on the island that offer better quality for a similar price point. We will not likely be returning to a Sandals property in the future.

"Trip of a lifetime!"

10.0

We chose Sandals Grande St. Lucian to celebrate our honeymoon and it was the trip of a lifetime! Upon check-in, we were surpised with an upgrade to an over the water bungalow and we were simply blown away by this gesture! We felt so incredibly special and fortunate to be blessed with this experience. The bungalow was private and luxurious, decorated for our special occasion and made for the perfect couples retreat! We had access to the beautiful Carribean water from our back door, we dined over the water, and we had so many amenities right there at our convenience. Our butlers, Karen, Glenda and Luther, were superb - attentive to every detail, warm, personal, thoughtful and considerate, and trusted. When it was time to say goodbye, it was like saying goodbye to friends or family. Karen, Glenda and Luther truly elevated the experience at the Grande! On day 2 of our 5 day trip, we both agreed that we would be making a return trip to the Grande, and we can only hope that Karen, Glenda and Luther will still be there! If you are on the fence about Sandals, let this review help you make the right decision!

"Disappointing first experience at a Sandals"

2.0

We came to this sandals as our first time with this brand and are extremely disappointed at the way the managers here treated us with lies and disrespect right from the first night. When we got here and checked into our oceanview room, we were so saddened to see that our view was more than half of a parking lot, with cars and headlights on coming into our room, and parking lamps on throughout the night. We spoke to the manager Lerry, however he disrespected us by telling us that we could take another room that was musty and smelled like smoke, OR take a downgrade to a pool view room with no credit. This manager does not know the basics of customer service or how to speak politely with guests. He just spoke to us in circles and told us we got a great deal to come here anyways and that all other guests are treated the same and he refused to accommodate our requests. Even when we asked to escalate this issue to his superiors he refused and told us he was the big boss here. Finally, after 3 conversations and 2 hours of our time wasted, he agreed to connect with Nadia - another manager at this hotel. When we met Nadia, she was very polite and respectful to us and listened to our concerns. She offered us a pool-view room and promised us that she will get us a credit on our downgrade. Throughout the week, I followed up regularly with Nadia and found out only on the day we are checking out that Sandals refused to offer any credit for our downgrade. It should be noted that the moment we downgraded our room, this hotel then had a higher category room that they could upgrade another guest to or charge more money for this. Essentially, we were lied to. When we spoke with Nadia this morning after all the runaround and so much follow up, we found out that Sandals ultimately says that we got a good deal to come to St Lucia as we were originally booked for a beach view room in Jamaica. Today, even Nadia backtracks her promise to us and denies even telling us that we were to be expecting a credit for accepting a downgrade. It must be understood that our Jamaica trip was switched to St Lucia only due to Hurricane Melissa, and in fact, we as guests had to spend a total of $3,000 extra just in flights to accept this change of resort, regardless of the “deal” Sandals claims to have given us. Aside from this, the service is extremely slow! It’s takes 1.5- 2.5 hours to eat here, and this is pretty much the case for every meal. 20 minutes to be seated even with a reservation. Renovated rooms still have issues - doors don’t close, broken sinks, loose shower faucets. The hotel is about 2 hours from the airport - sadly the driver even hit a dog on our way. The property is quite beautiful, but I’m not sure I would consider this brand ever again… sadly it was a dream to stay at Sandals and given the super slow service, persistent lies from the managers, and low quality of the rooms, we can’t justify returning or being loyal to this brand.

"Mislead and underwhelm"

2.0

Beware of being mislead. Staff on the phone would sell you a line of what everything was, but in reality it never was what you wanted. Tennis courts unavailable, but told they were. Take a private car from the airport it will save you 1 1/2 hours is a lie. Every outside activity takes two hours to and from. Food is unseasoned to accommodate everyone which means it’s boring. Sold that you will have top shelf alcohol only to see the cheap everything they can buy.

"Overall ok but fairly disappointing"

6.0

My expectations were super high for this resort, as I didn’t read many negative reviews prior to going. People are obsessed with this place and after being there I’m really not sure why. I would say it was by far a sub par experience. For the amount that we paid, it wasn’t worth it. Then to find out once you are there, that is when you get the ‘real discounts’. We paid almost double what other guests had paid and that was ‘on sale’ on the website. Breakfast was extremely disappointing. Not many food choices, the buffet was small, and it was the same thing every single day. Also, nightly entertainment!!! I can’t even begin to tell you how disappointing this was. Nothing was ever on time, no one communicated what was going on, and the Fire and Water show was embarrassing. We have stayed at multiple all inclusives over the years and this was by far the worst. We thought we were getting punked. Service at all of the restaurants was also incredibly slow. Maybe island time? lol but plan to spend at least 2 hours at every meal. Rooms are very dated as well. Also, ocean view is not ‘ocean view’. You want to book the beach view which they fail to tell you. You can see the ocean in ocean view but there’s a nice big public parking lot right in front of it. Overall, the trip wasn’t terrible, I don’t want to seem negative I just wish I knew these things before booking it. I just don’t think it was worth the money at ALL and I wouldn’t go back. Positives: staff was very friendly!

"Exceptional Experience"

10.0

My husband and I stayed at Sandals Grande St. Lucian from October 30 to November 6, 2025, and it was truly an exceptional experience. The property is beautiful, but what made it unforgettable was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. They consistently went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, and their flexibility and genuine hospitality made us feel right at home. A special shout-out to the Food & Beverage Manager(Ish) who was extremely accommodating, and to my three favorite servers: Thea, Ghania, and Aniyah in the dining areas. Their service, personality, and attention to detail really stood out and made our stay even more enjoyable. We loved the food at Gordon’s and Barefoot. The Italian restaurant was also great. The beach was relaxing and reminded me a bit of Negril’s 7 Mile Beach, calm and inviting, perfect for walks and ocean lounging (not identical, but very similar in feel). The entertainment offered a nice mix of fun and relaxation; we looked forward to the shows in the evenings. We did the speedboat tour with JJ and Queen Bee made it fun. My husband went deep sea fishing and caught his first Mahi Mahi. Overall, our stay was peaceful, enjoyable, and filled with great service, good vibes, and memorable moments. We would definitely return and highly recommend Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Reviewed by: Island Girl – Mona

"Loved it!"

10.0

Just got home from a week at the Grande…it was AWESOME! Food was great, we rented a cabana (highly recommended), and had a blast with the water sports (skiing, kneeboarding, paddle boarding, kayaking)! The best fitness class/instructor we’ve had at 8 different Sandals: Nyia!! Sandi at Gordon’s was above and beyond great service, And we were so very happy to see Nevil!! He made our vacation there 10yrs ago & same this trip!!
