Bournemouth Carlton Hotel, BW Signature Collection

Nice big room, staff friendly on arrival although trainee on departure was surly. Car parking very expensive but secure!

I was actually stopping at another hotel a short distance up the road where I had been ignored for around 20-30 mins when wanting food service. Leaving despondent I ventured out in the dark at 7.30pm desperate to find something that was more than a packet of crisps and wasn't KFC. I'd had a main meal earlier in the day so only needed something small but was trying to avoid walking for ever. As I turned the corner, the cosy glow of the Carlton called out and I chanced my arm. It was 7.45pm, they had at least one coach party in, and it seemed like a tall ask. I was greeted by a wonderful lady called Sue on reception and explained my plight. She was so generous with her time and I kept apologising for intruding on them when they were busy. Nothing was too much trouble. She checked with chef who said if I could wait or return in around 20 minutes, they would sort me out, so I did. In the end all I had was a bowl of soup and a dessert, and this about all I wanted at my own hotel, but at least the Carlton served! I was happy to perch in the corner of the cleaner's cupboard to eat in all honesty, but Sue walked me through the bar to a separate sort of sun lounge area and said I would also be most welcome in the dining room if I wanted to as there was now more space in there. I sat in a cosy hotel not wanting to leave. I was also served by Kar and Pavan (I hope I've spelt those correctly). Polite and professional also. There is nothing I could find fault with on this short experience of the Carlton, and if this is the treatment from this hour or so I was there, then it would certainly be a place to consider returning to in the future for a longer stay. Sue in particular deserves a medal. That night, having been ignored in the place I was staying, walking the streets of Bournemouth which I don't know, I wondered what I'd come to, and actually felt pretty low and lost as to what to do, where to go, or what might be open. To walk in off the street and felt immediately seen and be offered food, despite them being extremely busy, well hats off to them, and to the chef, thank you for your patience and hospitality with taking in a stray. The food was lovely and I appreciate you squeezing me in. Decor was very nice and it was a really calm atmosphere. Everyone seemed really friendly. I enjoyed sitting there. They're dog friendly too it seems. Well done Carlton. Did yourselves proud.

What a fantastic weekend we have had at the Carlton Hotel, the staff are amazing, happy, helpful and professional, great atmosphere in a nice, clean and well-situated hotel. Great value for money, we had a 2-night stay with a Gala Dinner in lovely surroundings, the House DJ is on top of his game, he made our night so easy. Event planning staff are always on hand. Location is lovely, a short walk to the town centre. My room was absolutely lovely, pet friendly, quiet and above all lovely view.

An excellent hotel with good food and exceptionally friendly and efficient staff. Also, make a special effort to be as green as possible. Well positioned for both the sea and town with good bus services within walking distance. Would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

The room was very spacious, but gloomy - just one standard lamp and 2 bedside lamps. A short term fix would be a pair of desk lamps (or a desk in the bathroom, which was very well lit!). Also the towel rail was not working - hope they get it fixed before winter comes!

Are stay was very enjoyable, the room was very spacious the bathroom needs towel rails, and some redecoration in the bedroom . The food was very good but needed some more choice on the menu .

Most of the property is pretty tired, but the indoor pool and spa were not open - and the spa has been removed which is misleading. The staff at check-in made no effort to compromise or be conciliatory with us (4yo in tow) which made the whole start a real poor experience.

Didn't stay here we stayed at their other hotel.they own that I believe..but we were sent from other hotel to here for breakfast and it was great .lots of choice and quality food.clean.lovely duty manager who had time for everyone .the one that was on early Friday 5th Sep. .had evening meals.reasonable price for the quality food.lovely.the negative was paying 2.90 for a small bottle of water u use to get in most hotels u were staying in.a rip off price.crisps very expensive so buy these get from shop if u find one asda near train station.drinks rip of price.at bar.y rip people off.it spoils it.

Very good venue in walking distance of seafront and town. Disappointment was indoor pool largely closed for repairs.
