I wasnt expecting much as its a basic 3 star hotel. Great location and facilities available are good. Staff were not friendly but they were professional. The issues i had were my 6 year old daughter consuming out of date yoghurt and the manager saying she'll be alright its only a few days old. The yoghurt was 4 days out of date.

Its not the worst hotel in the world for 3 star but the staff can be tricky, some are ok but some are a nightmare. The food is terrible and very overpriced, service is extremely slow and we actually had upset tummies after eating dinner in the hotel. Thankfully there are other places to eat in the town centre which is a 20 min walk away. Everything felt sticky, tables and chairs. The place needs a really good deep clean. Its located in a decent setting not far from the beach. Twin room was very small and dated but reasonably clean. Plumbing was noisy throughout the night. We didnt sleep well. Paid 170 for two night stay in August which isnt bad. Wish i had soent a bit more on a nicer place though in hindsight.

"Disappointing Stay – Felt Unwelcome and Judged"

2.0

I had high hopes for our stay here, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing and uncomfortable experience for both my husband and me. While the spa facilities were incredibly relaxing and most of the staff were friendly and approachable (especially the male receptionists, excluding the one who checked us in), the overall stay left us feeling unfairly treated and distressed. Despite switching rooms on the second night, we were constantly disturbed by staff knocking on our door asking us to stop talking – we weren’t watching TV or playing music, just having a quiet conversation. It felt invasive and unnecessary. Although the night staff eventually resolved the situation respectfully, the next morning the day manager knocked again asking when we were checking out – despite us having arranged a late checkout due to the previous night’s disruption. To make things worse, we were falsely accused of being aggressive to other guests. This was not only untrue but deeply upsetting. We were made to feel as though we weren’t guests ourselves. When my husband explained the situation to another staff member later, they were understanding and apologised – which we appreciated. But by then, the damage had been done. It felt like we were being judged without anyone hearing our side of the story. What’s frustrating is that during our first night, other guests were loud and drunk, yet we didn’t complain. However, when we simply talked in our room, it became an issue. This double standard made us feel discriminated against and very uncomfortable. The gentleman who checked us in was also quite intimidating and unapproachable, which made us feel unwelcome right from the start. Another major downside is that the pool and sauna are not on-site but in a neighbouring hotel – a real inconvenience, especially when walking back in the cold after using the facilities. We did enjoy our time in Bournemouth itself, but sadly, this hotel did not deliver the relaxing experience we had hoped for. I wouldn’t recommend it, and I definitely won’t be returning. For the price, you’re better off booking somewhere like the Hilton, where good customer service is more consistent and guests are treated with respect.

"Not a good hotel"

4.0

My fiance and I were treated to a weekend away at the Ocean Beach Spa and Hotel as a treat from his work. We were very excited, especially as I’m eight months pregnant and a pregnancy massage was apart of the package! Sadly, things didn’t go to plan and we left after dinner, not even staying the night. When we arrived, there was no where to park in Ocean or any of the sister hotels, or on the road. After about 40 minutes of waiting, we did manage to get a space on the road and pay £22 for parking (for less than 24 hours). There was no disabled parking, as I am disabled too and can’t walk far. This was frustrating and a heads up would have been appreciated or a way for those staying to reserve a space if needed. Our first stop of the weekend was to the spa for our massages. The ladies in the spa were very friendly, and this was the best part of the day. Both my partner and I enjoyed the massages. Then we wanted to go for a swim. The hotel had an outdoor pool but it didn’t look very clean and it was obviously too cold to use. There was no one in or near the pool, which says something considering the hotel was fully booked up apparently. We queued at reception (service was very slow!) to ask where the indoor pool was, and that was at a sister hotel so we had to walk down the road to the Suncliff to use their pool. We had to queue again at their reception to ask to use the pool - again, slow service so I had to go sit down and wait. We were told it was a heated pool, which it does state on the website, but it was freezing. It was too cold to relax in, too cold for my baby bump and totally not a relaxing experience! After five minutes of dipping our toes in, we complained to their reception but was told there was nothing they could do about it. (Maybe don’t advertise it as a heated pool?) They suggested another walk to another hotel down the road to use their outdoor pool and suggested maybe that would be warmer but it was too far to walk and risk it being just as cold. We went back to our room which was a double room with sea view. It was basic and small but no issues with it other than it had no air con so it was roasting in there and if you’ve ever been somewhere hot whilst eight months pregnant, you’ll know how uncomfortable that is! After showers, we went for dinner. Due to an engagement party, we were unable to eat in our chosen restaurant (The Atlantic) and we were told we couldn’t eat at the sister hotel restaurant (The Atlantis) despite both being on the package that work had paid for. We ate in their cafe area and basically seated ourselves as service was really slow again. The staff were nice, but service was either too slow or at one point, too fast - I was half way through my dinner and quite clearly still eating when I was asked if I was ready for dessert and could they bring it to the table yet. Mid mouthful, mid steak! No, we were not ready for our desserts, we hadn’t finished our mains yet. We were beginning to feel rushed at this point. There was also the issue that despite the meal being pre paid for, we were expected to pay extra for some items on the set menu. Due to my food allergies, I couldn’t eat any of the starters so I asked if I could just have a main meal and not pay extra but I was declined this suggestion. There were also small things too such as no steak knife for my steak and the waiter never bringing me one, so I had to ask another waiter, then one waiter saying my partner could have pizza and then another waiter saying he couldn’t, and ordering our desserts at the same time as everything else, but then the waiter taking our dessert order again later on, despite another waiter saying it was ready to be served to us (half way through our mains.) There was no communication between anyone, and no consistency. After dinner, which seemed rushed, we went back to our room. We decided at this point to go home because there was nothing to do - the bar/restaurant was closed to accommodate the party, we couldn’t go swimming or do anything else. The spa didn’t even have a jacuzzi to sit in. In our boiling hot room, there was a small tv in the corner with basic channels. And lastly, we were a bit anxious about how everything shuts by 8.30pm and then there’ll be no food after that time so no midnight snack for the hungry, pregnant woman when she can’t sleep because of the uncomfortable bed. After all the walking and waiting around we had done that afternoon, I was feeling worse than if I had just stayed at home. So, we left. We came home to our own bed, with airconditioning, a tv we could actually use, and slept really well. I think in our minds we imagined we would go to a hotel, and then just go downstairs to a warm pool, swim until our hearts content and eat dinner and pass out. Or if I felt I needed to rest in the bed, my partner could go swimming alone in the same hotel - not have to leave the entire building and walk to another hotel to use the pool - not that he did because it wasn’t heated anyway! We felt like we just had to stay in our room. Unfortunately this wasn’t the experience away we were expecting, and we have done spas and spa weekends away before and this spa hotel does not even come close to others in Bournemouth.

"Not seafront but good in parts"

6.0

Despite the fact that the hotel website and other reviewers have claimed that the hotel is on the seafront it is actually on top of the cliff and a good 20 minutes walk in either direction to get down to the beach. Ok if you're spending the day there but NOT ok for a quick dip in the morning. The hotel website also states that all rooms have hairdryers and toiletries, but mine had no hairdryer and they couldn't even find a spare one. The toiletries consisted of a small soap bar and tiny bottle of shampoo/shower gel; nothing else. I had noisy neighbours but that's no fault of the hotel, just inconsiderate guests coming back at 2am. On the positive side, staff were very pleasant and tried to be helpful; breakfast was good and I also ate in the Italian restaurant which was perfectly nice (and had veggie options). Would I go back? Probably not but it was good value-for-money and if I'd had time to use the spa then it could have gone up in my estimation.

Although parking was tight with a bus in the way it worked. Service for drinks was generally slow. Front desk support could have been more helpful. The room was well kept and supplied.

I thought the restaurant area and outdoor pool was very nice, the rooms were clean but we didn't have an ironing board or iron, the beds were okay, pillows not very comfortable but mattress was quite firm. I wasn't impressed with the breakfast for a three star hotel,a bit basic and standard, nothing particularly stood out about it or the breakfast dining area.
