Hunton Park Hotel

I haven’t even got the energy to list how awful this hotel was. The website is very misleading. It’s not luxury. It’s very overpriced for what it offers and you probably won’t be put in the Manor House which is what the website suggests! Unbeknown to us, we thought we’d booked a room in the Manor House as the website just shows that as the hotel, but it turns out there’s a horrid, falling apart conference centre style wing on the side. That’s where we ended up. It’s so run down. We had to change rooms as ours was in an awful state with paint feeling off the walls, skirting boards, ceiling etc. chipped walls etc. see the photos I’ve uploaded! Bearing in mind we paid almost £200/night the rooms, service or food reflect that. The Manor House too is falling apart. the pillars are falling apart. There’s arches broken in the architecture. The only plus I can give was a great chap behind the bar on the Friday evening who did an amazing job on cocktails. And the grounds are simply stunning and well cared for. As for the rest of it, absolutely not worth the money we paid. The food resembled Wetherspoons stranded (sorry,), even for the wedding we were at, the staff just didn’t seem friendly or happy at all from reception through to bar. We were constantly surrounded by empty glasses and plates all night outside. Nobody was monitoring the mess or untidiness of it all. Even on the Saturday there were still loads of glasses and bottles in the grounds. Just before the wedding I noticed these still hadn’t been cleaned up so I went and did it myself. I used to work in 4-5* hospitality. I’ve also been very lucky and travelled a lot. For the price this hotel is charging, it absolutely is not worth it. I would not recommend staying here. And certainly won’t be ever again. Looking at the reviews I’m not the only one saying this.

Location was great for seeing Warner brothers studios, the car park was also close to the entrance. Room was fine but nothing exceptional. Staff on the entrance were great also.

Shower was draining slower than the water coming out of the shower head and so spilled over the shower tray, breakfast was disappointing, not only were there no clean tables to sit down on, there was only half the hot food available and the coffee machine was broken. Staff at breakfast were very slow and weren’t very friendly or approachable. There was a member who appeared to be brand new to the job but she didn’t seem to be working, just following other around slowing service.
