Hunton Park Hotel

What a beautiful hotel. We came to celebrate a friends wedding. We booked a standard double room from the Friday to Monday. Be aware that Saturday night is extra money. So check that. The rooms were lovely decorated but on the small side. And if you are disabled please state as our room was quite a walk from wedding marquee. The bar is very small and they had a lot of issues with the beer and ran out of vodka at one point. Only one bar staff on. So it took a while to get your drinks. Breakfasts are buffet style. Lovely and fresh but at peak time you can be waiting a while for one thing if it runs out and on the Monday morning the butter had run out completely. There are no umbrellas outside so in the heat it was unbearable. The garden area you could use was blocked off for afternoon teas and baby shower. The staff are so polite and will help you with anything. Just a shame there isn’t a few more of them as the ones that are there are run off there feet. Overall lovely stay but with a few tweaks the hotel could be formidable!

We booked a classic double room at Hunton Park Hotel in late May to coincide with a wedding nearby. We pre-checked in online that morning, aiming to check in later in the evening after the wedding, and were looking forward to our stay. At 4pm on the day, we received a phone call informing us that our room had been cancelled due to "maintenance issues" and that no alternative accommodation would be provided. This left us scrambling to find a last-minute alternative at considerable expense. The conduct of hotel staff throughout has been nothing short of shocking. A manager promised to call back within 15 minutes with a resolution - it took two hours. By then, we had already been forced to make alternative arrangements at our own cost. We never received any follow up from the Hotel and had to chase for updates every time. Subsequent calls to the hotel were met with a dismissive, rude manner - staff spoke over us, offered no solutions, and at one point a member of staff raised her voice. We were repeatedly told to call back, despite both of us working full time. Having now written formally to the General Manager, we were informed verbally that compensation had been “approved”, yet no timeline or written confirmation has been provided, and we have no confidence this is true. Avoid if you can!

The hotel and grounds were nice. The room itself was nice, clean, spacious and comfortable.

The breakfast was very disappointing, was advertised that breakfast ran until 10am, we arrived at 9.30am. I totally understand that there were only a few people eating but it was obvious that the staff (one lady in particular) were more interested in clearing away than keeping the buffet going, so we got the leftovers (e.g. one egg between four people, and only two pieces of fresh melon left. There was only one coffee mug, and no glasses to serve fruit juice, I had to ask for more because nobody had noticed. At 5 minutes past 10 we had finished our breakfast and was enjoying our coffees, when the front of house lady came over and told us that they were waiting to set up for lunch, and encouraged us to leave. A bit unnecessary really considering there was around 20 empty tables that she could have been wiping down and setting up before she even needed to worry about our table. All a bit unwelcoming really, this may seem a small thing but at £242 a night, it matters! All the other staff were fine and helpful, just go somewhere else for breakfast.

The location was perfect for what we needed (travelled down from nottm to visit HP studios) the swimming pool was a lovely clean added bonus. The food was lovely, i had the salmon linguine. Breakfast selection was great and really good value for money. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the grounds are gorgeous.
