Brook Red Lion Hotel

Great staff. Comfortable rooms. Very nice breakfast. Despite being in the middle of the city, I slept very soundly and wasn't disturbed by outside noises. I highly recommend this place!

I heard this hotel was haunted and I was looking forward to seeing some ghosts...but no ghosts! Oh well! Better luck next time.

Beautiful historic building that has plenty of charm. The room was very comfortable and clean & the staff were happy to have a chat.

Location is right in the centre of town. Perfect spot. The 2 members of staff that I encountered, I think were managers, were brilliant. We had triple room, at the back of the hotel. Very quiet. Big spacious room. Clean, and comfortable.

Room does need updating, decor in keeping with the hotel, but is looking very tired. Especially the bathroom.

Beautiful historic hotel right in the main part of Colchester. Ideal to see the castle and parks etc... And don't forget the famous ghost..

Always stay at the back as the High Street can be extremely noisy especially on weekends

Please ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the rooms at the front can be very noisy because of traffic and bars. Rooms are good and the staff great.

- didn’t get the room we booked - inebriated person sat on stairs - dirty sheets on bed - bathroom was dirty - street noise was unbearable - didn’t stay. We were so horrified we checked out and went to a hotel across the road.
