"Last time here"

6.0

Second time at Bluebay and will certainly be the last. We came as a family last April and had a fantastic time so we booked a late deal to come again. This will be the last time though as since the last visit the place has unfortunately gone down hill. I get that this is a 3 star and I know what to expect but this now feels like a 2 star. The place is looking very worn down and the paint coming away in the pool just gets bigger by the day (see photo), the edges are super sharp and kids are constantly complaining of hurting their feet. The rooms are fine, we always say it's just somewhere to sleep so no complaints there. When we checked in at 11pm there was only one lady on reception and there were about 10 families booking in, we didn't get to our room till gone midnight and after leaving the UK at 4pm this turned into such a long day for us. The food is fine if your not a vegetarian otherwise it's plain pasta and bread rolls for the week, the one time they had a vegetarian dish they laid it on a garnish with bacon! If your in a room above reception/dinner hall then be prepared for noisy people at the pool bar late at night, we had a group singing till 2am and when complained to reception we just got a shrug. They say when you check in not to reserve sunbeds but by 8am they are pretty much all taken so something to think about. Pool bar is self serve on drinks so never waiting for drinks or snacks like burgers, chips etc. Overall it's a nice cheap place to come, the pool is lovely (cold) and my daughter wouldn't get out. Staff are friendly, pool bar staff can be a bit miserable and tend to just get grunts. If you want somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay then this hits the spot, it's not terrible just needs some TLC. I just think the place needs to close for a week or 2 and really bring it back up to standard then it would be a lovely place.

"Mixed review"

6.0

Mixed review for bluebay. We came here previously in May last year. Loved it, and got a good deal with Jet2 so decided go come back. On arriving to the hotel with about 10 other families checking in, there was one person on the desk almost appearing to work slowly on purpose. This led to a wait of over an hour. We got the usual talk of no reserving sunbeds etc (EVERYONE reserved sunbeds). No complaints about the food, staff in the restaurant very friendly and accommodating. Bar staff could sometimes be a bit frosty and unhelpful. Hotel is in need of some TLC, ie chipped paint in pool, not enough parasols, however this did not really affect our stay. Entertainment were lovely, friendly staff and done well to engage my usually reserved daughter. Pool cold but once in its warm enough. Loved the area where you could leave bits i.e suncream, showergels, and inflatables for others. On our second night, we experienced a disturbed night staying so close to the pool bar. Until 2am there was loud singing and shouting, running kids up and down corridors. I spoke to reception the next day to feedback - rooms close to pool bar can be very noisy for young families etc. Their response was rather unhelpful and abruptly told me I should have reported at the time. Which I do agree, it was her attitude of unhelpfulness or understanding, considering they are pretty much in the same place as us, they heard none of this. Every one deserves a good holiday, but a little bit of kindness and respect for others wouldnt go a miss.

"Not enjoyable"

2.0

I will not return to this hotel! The hotel is very dated needs a lot of TLC. Rooms are very poor, pool area is poor and around the grounds. Pool very cold. Had a big problem with cockroaches, not only around the hotel but in the rooms, had them crawling on our worktop in the kitchen, on the floor and shower. Food was ok but very the same thing.

"Poor"

4.0

My Daughter is autistic so couldn't cope with entertainment so we took a lovely walk down to the square each night. The pool areas crowded and some guests dont watch their kids so we went out. Went snorkeling, aqua park and the national park. The hotel only gave us one pillow and when asked for me said they only have enough for one per person. I am now really suffering from a painful neck. The hotel is dirty with the the same rubbish being in the poolside toilet for over 24 hours. The room was falling apart and the curtains were mouldy. Cockroaches were everywhere. I know they are expected in a hot country but the dirty conditions will not help and I dont expect to see them in the day where food and drink is served. The location, wifi, power of showers and the air-conditioning is good. I can cope with tired furniture etc but there is a minimal standard and unfortunately this hotel fell short of this. I love the area and will return but not to this hotel.

"Honest review….family of 4"

8.0

I read plenty of review before booking this hotel and I must admit there was a lot of pro’s and con’s, we got a very good deal with jet 2 and we ended up booking. This hotel is in need of a makeover, it is very dated and things are looking tired around the hotel….may I add this didn’t affect our stay. The rooms are basic but we were on a top floor 2 bed room, this is perfect for what we needed and I will add we didn’t have any ants or cockroaches during our stay. Although we did see a couple on the ground floors, again this is something you do see in hot countries and nothing really the hotel can do about it. There was a safe in the room. Our main door to the room needed a good push to fully close, again just something the hotel may need to renovate over time. The food was your typical all inclusive, something for everyone and a good few choices. Where you get drinks is a bit of a small area which could do with extending slightly for the amount of people. The people in the restaurant are nice and pleasant enough and are quick to clear your plates. The pool is cold but does warm up with the hot weather, pool area is fine and plenty of sun-beds but not enough parasols. The pool and snack bar has enough on offer and the food is nice enough, burgers, hotdogs, chips! Soft drinks and beer are self serve. Spirits you have to ask for. Now for the entertainment, it started off great, plenty going on, music round the pool, kids club, cocktail making etc. The mini disco was great and the entertainment on the night was great and run by Mickey (an amazing entertainment manger) but unfortunately he did have a few days off, which again people are entitled to days off. But then entertainment then became non existent and none of the other team seemed interested at all. Which was a massive shame as I booked the hotel knowing that all the reviews rate the entertainment staff and how amazing it was. I feel like we was robbed of a few days of entertainment. It’s almost like when Mickey isn’t there the place shuts down. All credit to Mickey when he is there as he’s amazing (which I had read about on these reviews) Costa Teguise is a very quiet resort so if you’re looking for a lively resort this isn’t the place. But nice and chilled if you like it like that. Overall we had a lovely stay. Thank you Blue Bay

"A Honest review - family of 4"

8.0

Review - A Honest review - family of 4 Please ignore the negative reviews! It was exactly what we expected for a 3* hotel! Don’t book if you’re expecting 5 star luxury, if you’re looking for a reasonably priced getaway for a family I’d recommend. Accommodation - we had a 1 bedroom ground floor apartment 2 adults, 1 child and a baby. The size was great with a brilliant patio area. The apartment was dated and basic but clean. Maid service accommodating with clean linen and towels throughout the week. Yes we found some ants throughout the week but soon established they were attracted to the bin (food) however there was ant killer available and once we’d used this we had no problem. Food - The opening hours to the restaurant were great (late breakfast, lunch and dinner) as a family we tend to eat our meals later so the times allowed us to do so. The snack bar was available from the moment breakfast finished until dinner time so you could basically eat all day. There was lots of variety and the food was fresh. The restaurant was clean however the snack bar was outside therefor birds would sit on the counter top however food was covered and the area was kept clean by staff with plates and old food being removed promptly. They also encouraged guests to clean up after themselves with lots of bins and areas to leave dirty plates etc. Staff were attentive and friendly. Lots of drink options available with a help yourself service to soft drinks, hot drinks and beer. You won’t go hungry and if you do fancy going out there’s lots of restaurants within walking distance (we ate out a few times). Pool area - some TLC needed however great space with lots of comfy sunbeds and great size pools (kids pool a perfect depth for our 4 year old) she was able to play safely without her armbands. Cold!!! They are not heated however we travelled in February! And we didn’t pay for luxury from my understanding the majority of pools are not heated in Lanzarote. We didn’t go into the large pool because that was freezing. The areas were kept clean by staff but it also helps if guests tidy up after themselves. Kids club - my 4 year old loved it and the staff were great and so attentive! Kids club would run 1030-1200 and the 1400-1500 however they were closed on Sunday. Entertainment - what you’d expect! The entertainment was like all other hotels I’ve stayed at over the years (this isn’t something we tend to watch as we like to go into town for a walk and dinner) The 4 entertainers were fab and great with the kids, they were always visible around the hotel and made the effort to interact with everyone which was lovely. Location - honestly we could not complain a short walk to a small beach with a great coastal walk into town (aprox 20 min with a pram and 4 year old) we’d walk into town and get a taxi back to the hotel this would Cost anything between €3 - €5 depending on the time of day. Card was accepted. Overall we had a lovey family holiday and felt it was good value for money. Thank you team Bluebay for a comfortable stay.

"Good location."

6.0

We have just got back after spending 10 days at Bluebay .Hotel is in a reasonable postion to the centre of costa teguise about 15 mins walk .And 20 mins walk to aquaPark also. Staff very friendly but we were very dissappointed with the childrens entertainers basically non exsistant..never came round pool to encourage children to take part in activities the club house was dark and dirty at back of hotel. Mini disco started whenever and finished early .our grandchildren missed it alot because it started 15 mins earlier than stated which was annoying . Food...if you dont like pork or cold pasta dont bother because most nights same food cooked differently and not very hot ..Hotel was nice and rooms big just needs alittle TLC ..Pool was lovely but apart from cleaning around snack bar area it was dirty lots of sticky dirty areas were people had spilled drinks. Never had a problem getting a sun bed always plenty around .we would be 50 /50 to wether we would go back
