Hotel Elbe

the rooms were tidy and clean, decent price. the area surrounding the hotel leaves a lot to be desired red light area, drug use.. despite us nick-naming the area CDC (crack den central) there was little more than a passing glance from any of the users that frequently hung around the outside of the hotel.. If seeing users and drug use offends then please avoid...if you are after somewhere cheap to use as a base then i would recommend.

Facilities: Tired, Nothing special, Old; Value: Over-priced, Could be better, Cheap got what paid for; Service: Sufficient, Polite; One of the staff members was very nice. However, my experience was that the room smelt of stale smoke, the bed was uncomfortable, the TV did not work.

Arrived from a long flight, arrived by 10pm, Staff informed and nice. Elevator. Quiet clean room, good for sleeping. Took train next morning.

Bed linens had not been changed (had to change it ourselves), stained head board, bed ruffle stained, rusted fixtures, faucet detached and hard to operate, toilet seat chipped, odor in hallways (mold,smoky, stale).

I should have known this would happen. I have been to Frankfurt once and I arrived by train. On that trip I left the railway station and found myself in the red light area. I beat a hasty retreat. This time I thought I had to book a hotel near the place I would be working. I searched on a hotel site and Hotel Elbe came top of the list. On arriving my colleague who was dropping me off immediately said I should cancel and go to his hotel near the airport. Elbe Strasse is in the heart of Frankfurt's red light area. It is dirty, seedy and not pleasant. However, I had booked and thought it would be too much trouble to change at this late stage. Inside the hotel is rough and care worn. My room, while clean, was dismal and depressing. I could imagine it being used for all kinds of activities which I didn't want to know about. It did not deserve a 3 star rating. The breakfast was not bad but didn't redeem the place. Don't go here. It's very central but there is nowhere decent to eat nearby. I was reduced to a burger bar even after searching. The people of Frankfurt should be ashamed of this area.
