Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas - All Inclusive

I initially rated this hotel around a 3.5-star experience based on the overall amenities, cleanliness, and service during most of my stay. The room was decent, and everything seemed acceptable at first. However, my experience took a major turn for the worse when I discovered a roach in my room—on top of that, it was actually crawling on my personal belongings. That completely changed everything. For a hotel at this level, that’s simply unacceptable and raises serious concerns about cleanliness and pest control. To make matters worse, I sent several requests to the front desk asking for a call back and never received any response. The lack of communication only added to the frustration and made the situation feel ignored rather than addressed. When I finally reported the issue, the staff did move me to another room, but this happened on my last night, so it didn’t really resolve the inconvenience or discomfort I experienced during my stay. As for compensation, all that was offered was a bottle of champagne, which honestly didn’t feel appropriate given the severity of the situation. Because of this, I have to revise my rating down to 1.5 stars. A situation like this should be handled with much more urgency, accountability, and meaningful compensation. Unfortunately, this experience overshadowed anything positive about the stay.

This was our second stay at RIU Palace Cabo. Its a wonderful place to relax, comfortable, very clean, great food and awesome service.

Our first time visit is fantastic! - so sad we’re leaving tomorrow. Thank you for giving us an unforgettable vacation! Only thing that bothered us is that we notice kittens on the property. They’re not adult cats but skinny kittens around 12weeks- and they need to be fed. Can your management get dry food to spread for the kittens. You’re such a big company with thousands of amazing staff - I’m sure you can manage that.

We enjoyed our stay and my request for a nice view for me and my wife’s 26th anniversary was granted and on top of that they have a Champagne and chocolate covered strawberry waiting for us in our room. They make our stay extra special. Thank you RIU for a wonderful stays and awesome vacation..

Pros The property is very nice but the best thing is the people. There are 2 pools and we spent most of our time at the Baja Norte pool where Esmeralda and Ulises always had a beer and a smile ready for me. They made me feel so welcome. The shows were also great. We’ve stayed at numerous resorts and sat through at least 50 shows over the years but the Crazy Show made us laugh harder than we ever have at any show. I loved it. Also the people running the shows were very welcoming and entertaining. DJ Johnny was so nice to us and so entertaining. The restaurants were also good. There were lots of selections available. The view from the hotel is amazing. It may be the best view in the area. Cons We went towards the end of spring break so the people in the next room were up all night cursing and laughing. The noise proofing is terrible and you can hear every disgusting word said. Not good for my young daughter. We slept with ear plugs in the first night. The front desk was very nice and moved us the next morning. The new room was much nicer and quieter. The old room was also outdated including having a broken shower nozzle and a running toilet. Not much of an inconvenience, just looked and felt outdated. The newer room we had was good. Also I need some white noise while sleeping so I tried to turn on the air conditioner fan. The fan setting did not work in either room, I think the function was purposely deactivated. It only came on when the air conditioner was running. Not a complaint with the hotel, just something to be aware of if you need white noise to sleep. Also the pools were nice but definitely need a little refurbishment. The tiles were breaking loose and looked dated, but not bad. The pros definitely outweigh the cons and we would happily come back, just not around spring break. Also be aware that the Palace hotel is much quieter and there’s less of a spring break party atmosphere than the neighboring Santa Fe property. I’m happy we chose the Palace hotel, it was better for young kids and peacefulness. Thank you to all the great staff for a wonderful 7 night stay.

I had such an amazing experience coming here with my husband and 2 young kids. The location was stunning, it was incredibly clean. We constantly saw staff cleaning, mopping, landscaping, sweeping, etc. the rooms did have minimal outlets so we brought our own extension cords and power bars. The rooms were well maintained and spaced out. Beds and pillows clean and comfortable. Food was fantastic! We ate at the speciality restaurants multiple times, and took advantage of the buffet. We also visited the Santa Fe sister hotel and the amazing kids pool/splash park. Highly highly recommend!!

Resort is very nice and kept very clean. Check-In was not so great - they told us we would get an email when the room was ready, an hour and a half later we were still waiting and only told the room was ready when we went to the desk to inquire about an upgrade. Highly recommend the steakhouse, but get there 15 minutes early. Pools and cabanas are aweaome. Beach vendors hover but are kept at a distance. Riu Santa Fe is next door but was too much of a party crowd for us. Request a room on the quiet side unless karaoke until midnight is your jam. Learned some tricks to staying here, otherwise good experience.

All the food was quite good, from the main buffet style restaurant, to the pool-side grill, to the specialty restaurants. The staff is constantly cleaning, and it shows. They have fun activities every day at the pool, good drinks, and friendly service.

Two things: (1) Our friends booked a room with "two full beds," but it was really two twins pushed together and bolted to the wall. That made for a less than stellar experience for a couple with their adult son. (2) Right before the A/C kicks on, it makes a loud "clunk" sound. Every time. All night long. And it sounds like someone is opening your door. Earplugs was a must for me.

Riu Palace is a very clean and beautiful resort perfectly situated at the end of Medano Beach. Food and service were amazing! Family friendly and worth every penny.
