San Ignacio Resort Hotel

San Ignacio Hotel was a very nice, relaxing place. Just sitting on the terrace you can be a part of the foliage and see several kinds of birds, iguanas or even a tayra. The staff is so attentive and kind! Food was always excellent. Special shout out to Carlota and our driver, ‘Rambo’! It was a wonderful way to spend our final days in Belize! Highly recommend! The tour of Tikal was amazing! Different than Xunantunich and a great taste of Guatemala!

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of an Island Expeditions extension tour. It's a very pleasant hotel up the hill near the Cahal Pech Mayan site. We were in a cabana on the side of the hill, with great privacy and a great view. I wouldn't recommend the cabanas to people with mobility issues, but if you don't mind steep paths they are great. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. There's free wifi, though it's a bit unreliable. There are 4 small pools, only open after 10 am. The restaurant has a good menu with average prices, i.e dinner for two is around 100 bzd (50 USD).

Great hotel with easy walking access to town of San Ignacio. Hotel is colonial character, well-maintained, safe, quiet, with a beautiful pool area and good restaurant. The staff are outstanding - friendly and very helpful. Birds and iguanas on site are a great addition. Excellent location for visiting Mayan ruins in the area and the town itself. Excellent value for the money too. We loved it.

Such a beautiful place! The staff helped our multi-generational family plan a sort of "all-inclusive" trip. Every thing we ate was amazing! Carmencita arranged for us to have an amazing taco fest, and Jorge and Alejandro helped us out with excursions. Each and every guide was amazing! We really enjoyed seeing the ruins. One of our favorites was the night walk. Everything was clean, and everyone was so helpful

We were a group of 11 that stayed here for a couple of days in late December, 2025. We were picked up at Belize City international airport by Carlos, who is very knowledgeable. He answered all our questions patiently on the 2 hr drive to the hotel. On arrival, we were greeted with cold towels and friendly receptionists. We were given complimentary drink coupons that were put to good use at the bar. The concierge was very polite and patient in booking the cave tubing trip for out group. The restaurant has a decent menu but be aware everything is freshly prepared, so may take a while to come. They only have 27 rooms , but the rooms are spacious and have a balcony or sitting area. We will definitely stay here if we are back in the area. The hotel is a short walk from the town which has many restaurants and shopping.

San Ignacio Resort Hotel was absolutely AMAZING — one of the best stays we’ve had. The property is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff is genuinely warm and helpful. They were amazing in every way: friendly, attentive, and proactive without ever being pushy. Every time we had a question or needed anything, they handled it quickly and made us feel genuinely taken care of. Everything from check-in to the grounds to the overall service was top-notch. The location was also PERFECT — easy walking distance to downtown and the market, which made it so convenient to explore. We did have one small mistake during dinner one night, but what really stood out was how management handled it. They owned it immediately, apologized, and went above and beyond to make it right. That level of care says everything. We stayed in the Royal Suite and LOVED it — spacious, comfortable, and the perfect place to relax after a full day of exploring.

Zero complaints. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

We absolutely loved our stay at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel! We stayed in the Royal Suite and didn’t even find out until our last day that Prince William and Kate had once stayed in that very room — such a fun surprise! Our room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The staff truly made our experience unforgettable. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and special. The suites came with butler service, and Edvin was incredibly kind and helpful, offering to arrange reservations or assist with anything we needed. The front desk staff were just as wonderful — one even took the time to help my daughter brush up on her Spanish, which she loved! The location at the top of the hill was perfect — a bit quieter, yet close enough to walk down into town to enjoy local restaurants. We really enjoyed visiting the Green Iguana Conservation Project onsite, relaxing by the beautiful pool, playing games in the lobby bar, and having breakfast on the patio each morning. Even though we already had tours arranged, it was clear the hotel makes everything easy for guests who want help planning activities, too. This is such a sweet place with incredible hospitality. We’re so glad we chose to stay here!

My family and I recently stayed here prior to Christmas. The room and the view were amazing - we saw a kinkajou and aracari toucans right from our deck! Everything was clean and well-appointed, and the trails were terrific. The true standout for San Ignacio Resort Hotel is the staff - almost everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The front desk accommodated us by providing an extra cot to make our stay more comfortable - and cooperated when our kids were not up to a planned activity. The breakfasts were terrific - we were able to birdwatch directly from our table, and were very impressed by a staff member, Elito, who provided us with fantastic info re the birds we were seeing, as well as local advice. If you are a birder, I highly recommend an early morning bird hike with Santos, right at the resort itself. He was so informative and helped me snap an excellent pic of a Gartered Violaceous Trogon, amongst other birds. The concierge desk was incredibly helpful and supportive. They arranged our transport to/from Belize City, including a stop at the Belize Zoo, which was terrific. We wanted to make the most of our time in San Ignacio and they scheduled a zipline/cave tubing tour, an informative tour of Xunantunich, and an incredible ATV to waterfall tour that I highly recommend for fellow adventure seekers. We had never been to Belize before, and the San Ignacio Resort Hotel was an excellent introduction!

Overall, it is a great hotel with a very friendly and cooperative staff. The concierge service was especially accommodating, efficiently booking our trips and coordinating our airport transfers. I also greatly appreciated being allowed to check in at 9:00 AM, which was a rare and welcome accommodation. While the hotel is small for a resort, it has a wonderful family feel and offers unique features. We enjoyed the iguana tour within the complex, as well as the early morning bird watching and late-night "Critters of the Night" tours; I highly recommend asking for Santos for both. Additionally, the showers were excellent.
