The Royal Hotel Hull

Dated in parts, room was clean, staff excellent as usual and the lounge, bar area is to a high standard, will stay again on business for sure.

The hotel used its beautiful historical features to its advantage and it was a lovely night's stay. The service from the reception staff was excellent and we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome to both the hotel and Hull. The room was a good size and was clean and fresh. The bathroom was stocked with some great little essentials and lovely fluffy towelling robes and slippers. The selection of tea and coffee was ample for both of us and enough to satisfy us till the morning. The breakfast room was unique overlooking the station and there was a decent amount of choice from the continental and English breakfast dishes. Again, the service was very good.

An historic property very close to the city centre. The room was a small double and just about big enough. Shower was quite powerful and there was plenty of hot water. Bar area was very welcoming if a bit shabby but perfect just to sit and wait, or have a drink or coffee. We ate there early on Friday evening and the food was very good, fresly cooked and plenty of it. Staff were friendly and helpful. If you want pristine and shiny it isn't for you but if you don't mind a bit f wear and tear and like somewhere with a bit of atmosphere then it's for you.

Recently had a 3 week stay. You can immediately tell on entering the room why the cost is cheap compared to other hotels in the area. The place is getting old and decrepit and in desperate need of a refurb. It’s a real shame considering it’s history. The carpet was threadbare and the kettle didn’t work but the room did the job for the cost. The parking fee is extortionate and a short walk across the road to the Osborne street multi-storey will give you secure 24hr parking for a fraction of the cost. The breakfast is decent (for a price) but with Greggs and a Wetherspoons so close, didn’t use every day. Cleanliness is adequate but my quilt cover wasn’t changed for at least a week during my stay. A comment to the reception forced the change. All said you get what you pay for.

The hotel is always clean and tidy.I had an issue with my booking,which took all night to sort out.The young receptionist was very unhelpful about this matter.I had to speak to the duty manager regarding this booking issue and he was more helpful.

A number of good things - the building has been quite grand in its time, the staff were helpful, the breakfast was ok. The breakfast room looked straight on to the platform and trains at Hull station - obviously a plus point! Less good - the bedroom was small and dowdy. The flush on the WC was broken and had been for a long time given the lack of surprise when i reported it.

An old iconic looking building but could do with some TLC, one lift not working aircon not working but room was a good size with comfy beds and all very clean

Rooms were cold, poor bedding, small rooms & tv reception

Always a great stay , staff are wonderful and friendly, especially Sally, ( manager) Rooms are comfortable, clean -good standard Hotel is centrally located and handy for the station

Property is warm and is a comfortable place to be. Not so happy with the beds as you can feel the springs and shower is not very good .
