Castle at Waikīkī Grand

I loved being in a great location near the beach.

I didn’t like being welcomed toa roach infested unit, with dirty towels in the tub.

Our room was small. Bed was old and sagging in the center which made it difficult to sleep. The rest of the room was slightly dirty and outdated. Had the room been cleaner I would have slept in the tile floor instead of the bed that folded like a taco!

Facility was a hotel in a different hotel. That wasn’t known to me.

The room was small but liked that it was filled with all the essentials like scuba gear, boogie board, books and stuff for the beach. Didnt like that they wanted to charge a cleaning fee of almost $300 upon check in for a room that noone cleaned until after we left. We negotiated it and got it reduced. Had to go to another room for clean towels and stuff for the bathroom. Weird. They should bring it.

This room is very old and nasty. I would never stay here again.

What a brilliant location ! One short block from the beach, surrounded by great bars and restaurants - perfect. And reasonably priced for the location, as the rooms themselves are clean and tidy but a little dated. Really appreciated keyless entry, the provision of beach towels as well as bath towels, and the very helpful staff.

The rooms are advertised as having the option of a king size bed or two singles. Booked it and requested the two singles option (mother and daughter trip). Received a strange response saying my request couldn’t be confirmed in advance but they’d try to accommodate the request on arrival - I’m not sure why you’d offer the option, but then say it can’t be confirmed. And THEN, on arrival (at 9.30pm after a long flight) we were allocated a room with only one non-divisible bed, and the staff said they had no notes of my request. BUT the wonderful staff member said she’d try to arrange something, and did - found us a room with two beds (one king, one double), so it all worked out. The rooms (and hotel) are older, and you get what you pay for - the toilet blocked (but was easily fixed with the provided plunger), and the fridge was almost as loud as the aircon (but became white noise and didn’t affect our sleep). All of that was more than made up for by the staff, the location, and the price.

The room was amazing, equipped with everything we needed, full kitchen & beautiful balcony & the staff were so helpful. Also they provided beach towels which was great.

we had to wait every 2 days to get fresh towels but it wasn’t a big inconvenience, Auntie was great and did us the favor of giving us fresh towels when we asked.
