Van Wyck Hotel & Suites Near JFK Airport

Whole place smelled like smoke, rooms are disgusting, deadbolt was missing, unsafe area, tiny tiny tiny rooms, towels were stained. Just overall terrible hotel.

We had to spend the night in New York for a flight cancellation. This place was a good price compared to others but when we got there it was apparent why. The entire place including the “smoke free” rooms reek of cigarette smoke. The sheets did not appear clean with holes and burn marks in the comforter. There was still hair in the shower. Just wanted a place to rinse off and get some sleep before another full day of travel and we were not happy.

All of the rooms were filthy and it is not located in a safe neighborhood. The staff are not very helpful and it is not well-maintained. My initial room was dirty, so the manager took me to check out two other rooms that were both filthy, and refused to give me a refund even though I had only checked out the initial room and immediately came back to the front desk. There was a line of people at the desk talking about some of the nasty and unsanitary things they found left in their rooms. it is also very loud

It was ok. Not big fan of the bathroom reminded me of hospital showers and towels looked like old rags. Beds were okay but need better lighting features.

The upkeep is less than adequate. The smell in a non-smoking was so unpleasant I had to get air fresheners, that was after a room change. It was almost impossible to get another room elsewhere therefore ended up spending 2 nights there. Staff is friendly and wants to help but you could tell that they’re limited with the last of resources. Not worth the money.

I will not Recomended this place to no one. This place is not for family stay

Got there and they stated I had no reservation. After 1 hour issued got resolved . Found my reservations. Went to the room they gave me and key didnt work they had to give me another one then got to room wanted to shower and shower had a water leak omg worse place ever.

The rooms are extremely filthy, very stink..stains on sheets, bathroom not cleaned. There were evident stains in shower and toilet. I can't get over the odor, like it was housing bacteria and mold.It smells like a homeless shelter. I can book another hotel after going in the room. The location attracks weed smoking and thugs if you are into that environment.

Clean , great staff friendly service

Bad bits: Bathroom sometimes smelled like cigarette smoke (maybe something to do with the ventilation?) and found the butt of a cigarette inside the entrance of my room even though I don't smoke. Soundproofing could be better as you're next to a busy road. Low resolution television. Elevator was broken half the time, and because the the stairs on the side in the parking lot couldn't be used because the key card reader didn't work, you had to go down to the lobby which is on the basement level to then go up 2 flights of stairs to get to the rooms. Good bits: Despite what I said about the bathroom, the facilities were actually really nice with hot water constantly with no variation in temperature. Housekeeping staff are really nice. Plenty of storage and high quality bedding and mattress. Pretty good location and price is always a plus. Overall, not bad. It does the job. It's difficult to say whether my negatives are unique to me, of if it's like that generally, but I probably wouldn't stay there again if I had other options. It's okay for someone looking for a quick place to stay for a night or two though.
