The Metropole Hotel

Cheap and comfortable one night stay. They should provide toiletries though

So I’m staying at the most beautifly fabulous 3 Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️Britannia Metropole Hotel in Blackpool. Well 3 stars are what it says on Hotels.com. I have a lovely view of the sea through the scaffolding out side my window. No bedside or over head lights, just a main light, the walls are all stained and the carpet looks more worn away than a camel after a trek across the Sahara Desert. The bathroom is the only thing that’s 3 stars as that’s okay to be fair. I forgot to add there’s no phone sockets next to the bed. Don’t even get me started in the bed, It’s that hard, that I may as well sleep on the floor, and that’s an understatement to the floor as it’s creaky like my bones after a good sesh

We enjoyed the hotel apart from 7nable to open a window or have any type of fan in the room

In need of regeneration and general improvements needed Head board had a hole in it which was covered with masking tape Nice touch having fudge and shortbread in the room Shame the room smelt of smoke Noisy road no double glazing, no fans Ok for a cheap night

The pics shown on the website must be 20 years old. The hotel is in disarray. We asked for a sea view but couldn’t see anything for the filth on the windows. The tap dripped all night long. We found an old sock by the curtains so the room clearly wasn’t cleaned beforehand as it was left in plain sight. The duvet didn’t fit the bed so we spent all night fighting over it. Despite asking for another one we never got it. The bar service was atrocious. We paid for parking and got blocked in as there was no one watching the car park so couldn’t use the car to go out. Cars were just left anywhere they liked. The reception staff were the most unenthusiastic people I’ve ever met in my life. We had a lovely time in Blackpool itself but we will never go back to The Metropole and I would never recommend it to anyone, in fact I would actively discourage people from booking a room in that horrible miserable run down establishment.

Only draw back was no entertainment as advertised was told due to covid ?? As other hotels still had entertainment.

Un cleanly dead flies everywhere Window also infested with alive fly’s inside No aircon room temp too high so we had no sleep at all Don’t get much for you money we paid £47 for one night, no soap or nothing which you’d Expect for the price since the quality of the room is that bad Scaff holding right outside so pigeons were also right outside Our window all night making noise we had the worse sleep ever. Maybe got about an hour Rude receptionist on the phone when calling to enquire

Absolutely disgusting hotel. Staff try ( I think) but the standards in this place are awful. Rooms are terrible and so dated. Avoid at all costs.

You can see this was a grand hotel once but it’s badly in need of TLC and updating the reception staff were not particularly welcoming or friendly and we were left feeling a little bit like we were an inconvenience rather than customers. A smile a little friendly welcome etc can go a long way and are much better than being made to feel like we were in the way not many facilities eather no where for a cup of tea or a bite to eat out side of about 3 hours in the evening. Very late check in time of 3 kept us sitting around for ages and the check out time of 10 am is just to early. It’s definitely not a customer experience or service based location sadly. A few simple changes could make this a much more welcoming and friendly hotel. Definitely overpriced for the service and facilities we had. Will not be rushing back when there are much better alternatives
