"This is it? "

4.0

I brushed off the other commentaries: how bad can it be? Truth be told, there are a lot of worse hotels out there...but few that cost 80+ euros a night. The neighborhood really isn't pleasant after hours. The "free wifi," I learned on arrival, transmits a single signal from the ground-floor office..if you aren't lucky enough to win a room on the first or maybe second floor, this is a no-wifi hotel (and there's no real lobby to sit in and use it either...you're just out of luck.) The front desk staff was distant, but not rude (though they did overcharge me to add a guest to the room). The room itself was spacious, with a nice sea breeze, warm water and an a/c that worked well. There was ceiling mold, and a mangy blanket over the sheets, but I slept well enough. This is a one-night, no-other-option dig. You're going to read all the bad reviews and book it anyways, because its this or a 40 eur taxi ride to another hotel. So, have fun.

"Only downtown hotel"

6.0

Overall our experience of hotel and Pointe a Pitre was positive. The city does not have too much to offer a visitor and certainly not on Sunday when everything is closed. For beach life look for another hotel.

"Business trip"

2.0

The worst experience in my lifetime. The only hotel where you have to make your own eggs at breakfast. Internet was never working in room one has to go to the reception to use wifi. Helpless bcos of proximity to businesses why we stay there

"Good"

4.0

Stayed due to proximity to the bus terminal and ferry port, which were both about 15 min walk. Room was basic but clean, however smelled of smoke. Check in and check out were both easy. Breakfast was basic but sufficient.

"Nice location to take the ferry"

6.0

We just stayed 1 night to take the ferry the next morning. It is very close to the ferry. A 10 min walk. No luxury at all! But good for an overnight stay.

"Downtown Rundown"

4.0

We choose to stay at this hotel despite the poor reviews for the same reason all the other reviewers did - because it is he only choice for an overnight stay close to the ferry terminal! I don't understand this, but it is the situation. When we checked in, the lobby was a small dark room with the receptionist tucked safely behind a large "cage" wall that you lean down and speak through a small passage window! But, she was civil, no more and we were checked in fairly quickly. No elevator - hike with luggage to third floor, room was small but certainly adequate for an overnight stay. Twin beds hard as a rock with thin pancake pillows equally as hard, thin worn linens which did look clean, (no holes or obvious stains), bathroom was clean with modern fixtures, adequate hot water. The neighborhood was quiet - it was Sunday so no one was out - safety wasn't an issue. The walls are thin and hallway conversations are heard easily. However, the breakfast was awesome with the best chocolate bread of our whole trip! I do think the price is way too high for what you get, but then again, it is the only show in town for the ferry terminal! In looking at the view from our window - which was just the downtown rundown buildings, we looked down to see a sort of construction graveyard or "what do we do with all this junk" roof top two floors down - not a pretty sight. The only reason I would recommend this hotel is it the only choice and we survived and even slept.

"Don't believe the quaint photo of this hotel."

2.0

While the photo of this hotel suggests a quaint atmosphere, it is anything but. It's a run down hotel in a run down neighborhood. The receptionist sits behind thick glass or plexiglass, she opens the front door by buzzing you in, and the property is protected by barbed wire. That should say enough. Also, the 4 euro parking expense I read when I selected this hotel was actually 15 euro in the lot across the alley. Internet does work in the lobby but that lobby is about the size of a bathroom with no where to sit.
